(UPDATE: GOV. PERRY RESPONDS) FEMA Now Refusing Aid to Texas Town Devastated by Explosion: Not Severe Enough to Warrant It
June 12, 2013 at 2:01pm
I kind of liken this to Obamacare… If something affects the MANY, then the funds will be allocated. But, come down with something somewhat rare and costly, and then find they can’t devote the funds because they have been consumed by the MANY! Sorry, you die!

N.C. Could Soon Find a Way to Penalize Hybrid Owners for All That Gas They’re Saving

Maybe instead of taxing the fuel, they should consider taxing where any damage gets done… Where the rubber meets the road, so to speak. I don’t really like the idea of progressive taxes, but for example tax truck tires at a higher rate than the subcompacts. They can tax motorcycles and bicycles. I would think the tire wear factor would be proportional to the damage they inflict, and the tax would be proportional across driving habits (burning rubber starts and skidding stops). It just sounds too logical to me, so please shoot some holes in it!

Thanks, CABERNETQHS… As for the “eye,” I found it somewhere, and thought is was interesting. I suppose I felt I could attribute different meanings to it at different times.

A couple of points I might add are:
1) Driving a car is considered a privilege, the Second Amendment is a right… BIG dfference!
2) The Constitution is for ALL people, not just the “entitled.” I’m not sure how the law reads on this, but IMO even a felon, having successfuly served their COMPLETE sentence could still be eligible.
Was It Against Uniform Protocol for the Marine to Hold Obama’s Umbrella?
May 17, 2013 at 10:11am
Actually, the Marine should be armed, so that he can defend his country and his president… But wait, that may be setting up a paradox.

The Possible Change to Drunk Driving Laws That Could Affect You
May 15, 2013 at 8:14am
If the presumptions of 4M per year are driving drunk, and 7K lives per year could be saved, then if my math is right we’re talking about less than .2% improvement. Not going down the emotional path, just what is the return on investment? Do they ever consider a point of diminished returns? Those 7,082 are less than .0003% of the US population. Why? (And no, while I have an occasional drink, I do not do pub crawls!)
