It is a sad thing that, when presented with reasonable argument that you cannot refute, you resort to the tactic of creating falsehoods.

Since it is clear that you require only the most plain response – one which does not ask for even the most basic use of logic – I will give you a definition that even you can understand.

    Terrorism has the following characteristics:

    1) The use of violence or the threat of violence against civilian populations
    2) It is for the purpose of advancing a political or social cause.
    3) Just because a terror attack does not kill or harm anyone does disqualify it from being terrorism. If the intent of the attack is to gravely harm or kill civilians, then it is terrorism. If the attack has reckless disregard for human life, then it is also terrorism.
    4) A campaign of threatened violence, such as cross burnings, is also a form of terrorism.

  • If The Blaze wants to be a respectable news source, it needs to stay away from absurd tabloid trash stories like this.

  • Destroying property is not terrorism. For one thing, it lacks the element of terror. For another, it did not involve intentionally harming innocent civilians.

If you want the “British perspective”, then I think the word “vandalism” would be the appropriate term.

But to call the Boston Tea Party terrorism not only libels the patriots who took part in the action, but it also dishonors the victims of actual terrorism. Real terrorism is not protestors throwing tea into the bay. Rather, it is a sinister act of violence – often murder – intentionally inflicted upon innocent civilians with the goal of causing fear.

You have made the right decision and, thought they may not see it, the loving decision for the same-sex couple. It is not loving to offer support to someone who is engaging in self-destructive behavior. I think that your response maintains dignity and avoids giving support to sinful actions.

People are going to attack you for it, of course. It is the nature of those who hate God to hate righteous actions. But, as the Word says, “Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake: Be glad and rejoice, for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you.”

So be glad, my friend, for you are blessed.

  • I should clarify about my earlier reply. The reason that I speak of “prudential” vs. “moral” matters is that the person writing the note (if it is not a hoax) is trying to invoke moral authority by using the “Pastor” title. Otherwise, they would just use their name without the title. I mean, I wouldn’t end statements by saying that I am a Systems Administrator unless what I was saying had relevance to computer.

The use of the Pastor title on the check is a non-sequitir. His being a Pastor has no bearing on his opinion in the matter, except for what I said in my earlier response.

  • Welcome Home :) It is heartening to read about your return to the faith. May God, through the prayers of the Saints and His Holy Church, bless you and your loved ones for all of your days.

And I will certainly offer prayers for your kids. I will do so after posting this message.

  • I think that whether or not a gratuity should be automatic is a prudential, rather than a moral, matter – except for the fact that moral law requires just compensation for a person’s labor. Beyond that, it becomes a separate debate: Since servers usually make the majority of their money on tips, what policy will be fair to the customers and fair to the server?

I think that, in most cases, the server should earn their tip. I can recall one case right now in which I had horrible service at a restaurant and, as a result, gave the waiter no tip.

On the other hand, if there is a very large party, then it seems fair to have an automatic gratuity. This is because the server has to spend a great deal more time and effort with the large party. If the large party should choose to tip poorly (for whatever reason, but let us assume here that the server provided good service but the large party was being obnoxious), then that server has lost a lot of opportunities to earn a tip with other customers.

  • I would say that it seems like a hoax. There is no actual proof of veracity that I can see. Certainly, it goes completely against Christian values.

Christian values would dictate that, if the man feels that he should be giving more to God than to the waitress, then he should give more to God not less to the waitress.

Sadly, anyone can claim to be a “Pastor”. A pastor of what? It can be the pastor of the Church of Joe’s Living Room for all we know. Claiming the title of “Pastor” is NOT the same as being ordained by a legitimate church, whether that means being ordained as a Protestant Minister or as a Priest in the Catholic or Orthodox Church.

  • I honestly appreciate a nice vegetable tray at a party, since I am diabetic. And I honestly do like them – vegetables dipped in ranch is a classic.

Regardless, even with my own diet restrictions, I don’t want to have the PC-Police trying to muscle private companies for humorous advertisements. And I don’t think that this kind of dour finger-wagging is going to help their cause anyway.

  • It’s kind of weird that the government spends money to put out PSA’s about Selective Service. Considering that we don’t have an active draft, I would think that it would not be a high priority to advertise for draft registration.
