You should stick to farming cubes. It never ceases to amaze me how many people either don’t know their rights or will sheepishly waive them at the slightest urging. The former should learn them, the latter never deserved them in the first place. “Better to be silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and leave no doubt”- Confucious

Nope it’s ignorant people that back up a cop that violates his oath and the rights he’s sworn to uphold and protect.
 May 9, 2014 at 9:02pm
Another thug with a badge and a commander backing him up. The cop was 100% wrong. I hope Ali wins tons of money from it. Anyone who sides with the cop on this needs to know their rights under the 4th Amendment. If this cop was following department policy, the policy is in direct violation of the 4th Amendment and the SCOTUS. Being in a high crime area is irrelevant. Not wearing a coat is irrelevant. The cop is welcome to strike up a conversation and ask for ID and other questions. But unless the cop has a reasonable, articulable suspicion that Ali had committed, was committing, or was about to commit a specific violation of law Ali is not obliged to ID or answer any questions. This one should be a slam dunk for Ali. I can remember a time when people could count on cops to help them. When I was a kid a cop would stand by a burn barrel watching traffic for kids sleigh riding. Now kidnap victims running to a cop get shot. Family pets are shot. In the Dormer manhunt a newspaper delivery lady and her mom were shot for driving a truck that was a different make, model, and color from the Be On The Lookout for vehicle. SWAT kicking in doors at wrong houses and killing folks in bed. Now cops are little more than bots with citation quotas to generate revenue. Run to a cop nowadays for help expect to be tazed, arrested, or shot. Not all are bad but it’s the 95% that make the rest of them look bad. Ali is lucky to be alive and here’s hoping he get a huge paycheck.

Somebody said this awhile back… “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. I have a dream today!”.
Young man you have more character than all the so-called moral superiors combined and still have some left to boot. Full speed ahead sir. These proglodites are barnacles meant to prevent you from attaining your full potential. Shake the dust of that place from your sandals. Perhaps even lift a leg and break wind as you walk away. Judge Roy Bean style.

Another good guy with a gun. Citizens go home to their loved ones. Thugs go to jail. Bravo sir. Well done.

Spot on. Why not call cops? Strange. So poor kid had to suffer through the weekend.
April 14, 2014 at 6:59pm
Of course there will be a very thorough internal investigation concluding with the officer being fully exonerated and the car driver will need to be sued to cover the officer’s soiled panties and mental anguish.
April 7, 2014 at 4:36pm
Officers (armed gang members) concerned about suspect’s lack of candor (exercised his right to remain silent), K-9 alert (Commanded to falsely alert), presence of a firearm (automatically must be a crook), concerned cell phone may have been converted to a weapon (Oh crap we might get sued for violating a bunch of rights if this hits youtube). Move along citizens…nothing to see here.
Perfect. The only semi honest cops are ex-cops that live in fear of what they have seen.

Ahh yes, the old spineroo. Perhaps a toned down version of the knockout game? Those Romanian thugs are much more humane than ours though. better dressed too.

So right. I was just thinking the same thing recently. With a few exceptions in several states, the grabbers’ attacks on guns have resulted in what appears to me to be the largest expansion of gun rights and the proliferation of the sheer number of firearms and ammo sold in my lifetime. Concealed carry permits have exploded too. If the 9th Circuit ruling stands in California the irony will be sweeter yet.

The sweet part is that he’s going to be lining his pockets with liberal amounts of liberal taxpayer dollars.
April 3, 2014 at 10:42pm
I’m surprised a real cop would survive until retirement going out with unloaded weapons. Well maybe in Mayberry.
April 3, 2014 at 10:34pm
Your comments make me uncomfortable. I’m calling the cops on you
April 3, 2014 at 10:28pm
The ordinance you cite has no legal merit. It is trumped by state law. I fail to see any logic to your faux outrage that anyone should carry in a neighborhood. I failed to get the news flash that it’s now official… no violent crime occurs in “neighborhoods” anymore ergo no need to be armed in the hood. I guess everyone in “neighborhoods” now has 2.3 children and a unicorn also. What use is an unloaded firearm? Are Sunday nights now devoid of violent malfeasance also? Responding cops merely need to approach the guy, have a brief, consensual conversation to get a feel for whether he is a threat to anyone, thank him for being polite, and go on about their business.
April 3, 2014 at 8:25pm
The cops are too stupid to understand that their local firearm laws are preempted by state statutes. It really surprises me that so many cops don’t know firearm laws. It would seem to me that knowledge of gun laws should kinda be a priority to a cop.
April 3, 2014 at 8:13pm
And women. Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians too. Lemme see did I leave anyone out? And they should wind up the day by walking down this same street.
April 3, 2014 at 8:08pm
He cannot, by law, conceal until he is 21. He is carrying the only way he legally can. He was assaulted and kidnapped for following the law.
April 3, 2014 at 8:02pm
I would shake his hand and thank him for being a patriot.
 April 3, 2014 at 7:55pm
Sorry you are misinformed. I love how so many sheep start their anti gun tirades with “I’m a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment But…” . Texas is not a stop and id state. Police cannot demand id if the person hasn’t broken any laws. The supreme court has spoken on this very thing. If police can stop, threaten, intimidate, and interrogate a law-abiding citizen walking down the street, how long before they can kick in your door with no warrant to fish for anything that may be used to convict you of something. This kid IS a true law abiding citizen. The po po violated the law. A gazillion dollar lawsuit would go a long way toward preventing this kind of reaction by cops, not waiving the rights our genius founders bequeathed to us.

You are one of the unbalanced posters here. His firearm was slung on his back. These officers have no honor. How would you propose he legally carry? Do you realize he’s not old enough to conceal? Do you realize he was carrying the only way he legally can in Texas? Or is it that you just want to deny this citizen his rights? Texas doesn’t allow open carry of handguns. Only long guns can be openly carried. You honor the thug cops all you want. Hopefully this kid will barbecue these goons in court. This kid has more patriot in his little finger than you will ever be able to comprehend.
