  • Vontanner… Its called research. Try John Lott’s “More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun Control Laws”
Here is a link to an article describing it and the attempts to “discredit” his research, with links.
    Its in its Third publishing.

  • So he is says gun makers get rich by spreading the “myth that the government is going to take our guns” while begging Obama to save us by…taking our guns.

He’s a special kind of stupid, isn’t he.

  • Center Mass. Always. Most people do not train enough to aim anywhere else. As for gun selection, use whichever caliber is most comfortable for you and gives you the most confidence to make a good shot. My wife can’t pull the slide or handle my .45 with any confidence but she will hit where she aims with her .38 at 25 feet or less. Most important thing good guy (or girl) lives, bad guy dies.

  • Blaze, why are you censoring my post. My use of the term “*******” is neither a cuss word nor racially derogatory. This is the last place I expect to see politically correct *********.

  • Frugly… easy. If you actually know any cowboys in Florida, and they are actually Floridians, they will have no problem with the term “Florida *******.” Since I am sure you won’t click the link from Wikipedia I will educate you on the origin of the term:
The first cow in N America stepped off a boat over on the west coast of Fl (either Tampa Bay or Sarasota Bay) so cowboying started here. The term “*******” refers to the way cows had to be worked here. If you had used a rope you’d spend all day roping bushes not to mention that once most whites got back here all the cows were wild. You had to hunt them. We crossed hounds and terriers (pitbull type). The dogs cold trailed them and went to their head to bay them and the cowboys used bull whips to drive them to clearings and pens. The sounds of the whips gave them their name. I know many crackers and been on many ranches here in Central Fl. and even though there are lots of pastures now you’ll still see plenty of cur dogs and bullwhips when its time to work cows.

This technique is not only a Fl thing, its a Gulf Coast thing, ever seen a Catahoula dog out of La. and wondered why it came to be? Now you know. However, I have only heard the term ******* (non-racially) to describe Fl cowboys.

Comments like yours are further evidence of the ignorance of liberals. We aren’t living in or encroaching on their territory. Its our territory. Humans do not live outside of nature. We are as part of nature as bears, wolves, deer, gators or others. We are an apex predator just like the bears, wolve, gators, etc. As such when two apex predators overlap one has to go. The man defended his home territory and family from another predator, period.

Let’s put bear mace in your hand and see how comfortable you are with your children near a mamagrizzley.

This bear clearly lives where it is illegal to hunt bears. In these locales bears have no fear of humans and humans are twice as likely to be attacked by bears.

  • Militiaman you are not very bright on this subject. The sign of a healthy ecosystem is a healthy population of large predators. Yes they are protected but starting Aug 15 we will begin taking gators out of the rivers and lakes around and the state harvesting around 6,000 gators. And then we will stop until next Aus 15. The trappers will continue to eliminate nuisance gators when needed on a year round basis. Gators are especially aggressive during April/May because its mating season. Don’t go in the water and “challenge” a bull gator for his territory like the boy some 8 yrs ago. He waded in and splashed water towards a gator some 15 yards across a canal to imprees his friends. His parents did not do an adequate job of educating him on how to coexist with gators, i.e. leave them alone. If gators are to close to a large human population or show a lack of fear of humans (their only natural predator besides larger gators) call FWC and they will send a trapper. And for crying out loud use some common sense. Stay out of the water in areas likely to contain large gators and keep your eyes open every where else.

  • I agree with ozchambers. For home defense the best starter guns are the Remington 870 and Mossberg 500 pump actions. They are around $300 and just go boom, period. Plus, nothing stops an intruder like the sound of a 12 gauge cycling a shell and the sight of a big scatter gun barrel looking at them. Maybe you won’t have to shoot but if you do your not likely to miss.

For handguns the .40 or .45. have excellent stopping power, I prefer a .45. Your local range should have a variety of weapons for rent and you should shoot many to get a feel for what fits you best.

    Then practice, practice, practice.

And tieing in to the article, make sure you clean your weapon. A clean weapon doesn’t jam, at least not in my experience.

  • Couldn’t watch more than 15 seconds.
A few well placed rounds from a Remington Model 700 .30-06 would solve that problem.

  • To the folks continuing to try and equate Christianity and Islam, stop. You have no basis. Islam teaches to convert, subjugate (make slaves) or kill all infidels. They are actively trying to create chaos to bring the twelfth imam back to create their heaven on Earth.

No where in the Bible are Christians instructed to go convert the non-believers. Jesus sent his Disciples out to preach the Word of God and commands all his followers to do the same. Matthew chapter 10. Mark chapter 6:6-12. Luke 9:1-9 and Luke 10:1-24. We spread the Word and it is the personal choice of those who hear whether they want to recieve it or not. “I am the Way, the Truth and the Light. No one gets to the father except through me.” And by recieving Jesus as the one and only savior he has a place held in Heaven for him.

It is a personal choice. Between you and God. I cannot convert you, you have to convert yourself.

That is why this country is founded on personal choice and the freedom to make choices as you see fit. That was the intention of the Founders as they were directed by their Faith.
