  • I think it’s a powerful message. We are supposed to learn from our history… the good and the bad.

  • The desire to have safer places for the kids, quality education, etc are not a “collective” idea. Those desires are actually accomplished by the free market system because the free market encourages improvement. Collectivism is about control (not freedom, not safety, not a better quality of life). It destroys the individual’s innate right to choose his/her own destiny. And when that happens, quality of life deteriorates… that’s collectivism for you.

  • If religious organizations are being forced to recognize gay marriage, then, of course, people will use verses from the Bible to support their case. However, I think that O’reilly is making the case that the issue isn’t really about the sanctity of marriage (which unfortunately, now gays are making it out to be), but that the issue really is that gays want the benefits that married couples have – regarding property, hospital visits, taxes, etc. So, focusing on bible verses in support of marriage only takes them farther away from the REAL issue or grievance.

This whole debate really started when a lot of gays who had long-life partners couldn’t inherit property, for example, like a spouse would, when the partner dies; or were not recognized as “family” when they wanted to see their partners in the hospital, etc. So, the real solution here is allowing “civil unions” or “civil partnerships” (not “marriage”) in order for gay partners to have the benefits of married couples. Likewise, as was used as an example, even 2 sisters who live together can be recognized legally as each the rightful heir when either one dies, for example. So, they can enter into a “civil partnership”.

It’s a win for the gay community as they will be at ease when it comes to legal matters; and it is a win for the Churches as their beliefs are respected and are not forced to recognize same sex couples.

  • What’s amazing is that the pastor is saying this when the President of the United States and his family are black! Suddenly, his statement makes no sense.

  • I agree. At the end of the day, the worst thing “that guy” has done, which is the common thread in everything else he has done, is deceive the people – with inaccurate or misleading numbers, by using emotions instead of facts as basis for arguments, by telling people about arguments being made by the other side which don’t even exist, by using stories of individuals that aren’t even true, etc.

  • Listening to what the Pres has said (the fear) and saying that it “wasn’t meant to push through”, I can only conclude that this Pres was willing to use the lives and livelihood of people as bargaining chips. The Republicans agreeing to spending cuts (sequestration) is not the bad part (every dept of the govt has areas that can be cut), it’s the Executive Branch (the Pres) NOT ordering the cuts on non-essentials first, but instead focusing on essentials/integral areas is what’s bad. This shows how badly this President is executing the law.

  • Once again, another “huh?” moment watching the First Lady.

  • I have never seen such a display of a desperation to always be in the spotlight… not as the First Family, but as celebrities. It’s so shameful considering what the rest of the country is going through.

  • Tully made an excellent reply. The second amendment is about protection against tyranny (from govt, from a criminal, from being overpowered by anyone who does not value a person’s life and property). I am so proud of him standing up, keeping his eye on the ball and not be diverted by the poor argument of the left.

An added note: It’s amazing how people from the left keep talking about the “poor” 99% and the power of the “few” over the many – when communism and socialism is precisely about the few overpowering the majority.

  • Excellent article indeed! I just wish that one of the conservative politicians actually come out and say these things… to the people, not to the President or some newscaster or tv host.
