  It is not as easy to get as you think
  I am 59; missing part of my right hand; legally blind in one eye; arthritis in one knee and my spine; take meds for seizures; and anxiety and depression; have lost 2 inches in my height; am in pain 24/7 and yet they treated me like a POS; a liar and a fakir,
  I paid 43 years into this system; but they are acting like I am doing the worst thing I can do

  I am so sickened by all this; My company went out of business; and am out of benefits; I have applied to over 500 places; have been told I am too old; over qualified; and other nonsense…

  So tar and feather me; I am at the end of my rope with this nonsensical crap

  Doesn’t matter..I am sure the writer(who has a job; ever notice that people who seem to think they are “secure” in their lives; tell people how to keep jobs?) was trying to be helpful; but he is speaking from numbers from a poll or an area he is familiar with.

  I went in at 6 Am everyday; and got all the work done before we opened for business. I was there till 6PM to make sure everything was finished. 17 years total; and then; one day; corporate comes in and closes 1100 stores. All the hard work meant nothing.

  I am 59; and CAN NOT find a job. I am told I am too ‘old”(they said they would deny saying that if asked); I would be bored; I was way over-qualified; the market is changing; they want starters; not finishers(code for YOUNG); and some of the stupidest things I have heard.

  I recently find I have lost the vision in one eye due to damage that is genetic; Arthritis of the spine and my knees. Part of one hand gone; due to an accident.
  Having to take meds for depression.

  But By God; I would still get up and go into work at 6AM and get off at 6PM if I could. I deal with the pain; the vision; and take my meds and struggle through it. I have worked non stop since 1970; always worked. And have found out no one wants an “old” man to work.

  Glad for your success Glen; merry christmas to you and yours
  we won’t be celebrating it this year; our car lot closed; and I am now laid off for 2 months; and they tell me the UI ends at the end of December; since I take Dilantin for seizures; I can’t get a CDL now; so no driver jobs. I’m 59; so the kids get the jobs for min. wage;and the qualified people like us; can’t support our families. I am lucky; we paid off our little home and our older cars; how people are surviving that have all this debt is earth shattering to me.

  my wife is ill; so it’s important to take care of her; we’ve been married now for 24 years and we have each other this year; and that’s a good thing.
  a lot of people don’t have that blessing.
  my daughter and her family are doing great and I am proud of that fact…there’s always a rainbow somewhere when it rains.
  So this year; we’ll watch the parades; sing the songs; and light the immortal fake tree we’ve kept all these years; and remember..the good days I fear we’ve all seem the last of that
