  Now now now…you all are being much too demanding of our elected officials. You need to understand that many factors were considered before ‘caving’, as you put it:

  First, the Christmas, er…the holiday break was looming close, and any further discussion would jeopardize our elected getting back to attend family functions. Is that fair?
  Second, this was really hard! Lots of discussion, gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands. You know, it’s not clear that Americans want their elected to actually do their job and stand up or their principles.
  Third – it’s unclear how their vote would impact their re-election. You don’t want them to risk not being re-elected, do you?

  This was clearly a pay me now or pay me later situation, but they’ve turned in into a pay me now AND pay me later situation! And just who is it that ends up ‘paying’? It isn’t them! (hint – it’s probably you and me!)
