Four of my uncles fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Two were seriously wounded. At the same time, my father was in the Pacific preparing for the invasion of Iwo Jima. All were of them were my heroes, all are now passed on. Bless their memories.

VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) – 2 NEWS has found a connection to a lost photograph found in the parking lot of a Vandalia grocery store.

Samantha Bryson found the picture outside the Kroger early this week.

“It was just laying face up in the parking lot,” she said. “It’s got the three gentleman on it who obviously were friends in the war.”

She contacted 2 NEWS and started a social media campaign to find the owner.

After the story aired, we were contacted by a former US Marshal who took it open himself to find the owner.

It turns out one of the men in the photographs, Gerry Scherbenske, mailed the photograph to his daughter who lives in Vandalia.

2 NEWS contacted Scherbenske who confirms that he is in the photo and could identify the other two men as well.

Scherbenske served with the Marines in Vietnam during 1965. He says the photograph was taken about halfway through his nearly year-long tour of duty.

Scherbenske, who now lives in North Dakota, says he mailed copies of the photographs to some of his children and grandchildren.

2 NEWS contacted Scherbenske’s daughter but have yet to hear back.

It was kind of funny until filthy mouthed people had to start using the “F” word. Can’t that be bleeped before it is put on line?

I didn’t see one for country and western. I don’t listen to or even know about any of those groups or people listed.

It was nice until she opened her mouth and said the “F” word.

I hope the folks at Burger King see the offensive video and tell her to find another place to work. Poor publicity for Burger King.

No doubt that we are going to end up fighting a war with those Jack-A’s, we might was well start planning now and get a jump on it.

The US Supreme Court sees it differently than you, so did the founders and authors of the constitution, and so do most Americans. It is already against the current laws to sell, or give, firearms to felons.

What Obama said about people being able to purchase large amounts of ammunition is code speak for “The government is going to go after ammunition” instead of trying to go after guns.

I don’t trust the Russians, they are definitely our enemies, but it would be a big mistake to underestimate them and their abilities.

Private sellers sure can do background checks. It is not required, but it is possible. I have done one on every firearm I sold or transferred.

There is nothing complicated about it. If the Pledge of Allegiance is changed and “Under God ” is removed, I will still continue to say it with “Under God”. I suspect most Americans will do the same. Leave it alone.

The real issue is not whether Mr. Bundy is right or wrong over paying grazing fees, I believe that he does not have any legal standing to not pay them. The issue is what business does the BLM have in sending over 100 armed agents to his ranch and range land to enforce the issue. Since when are fines and fees collected by armed agents in full riot gear. Why does the BLM even have a SWAT team equipped with automatic weapons, body armor, and riot gear. Where else has that ever been needed by the BLM. The militia members did not even show up to support Bundy until after the BLM had started to strong arm Mr. Bundy and his family. The Bundy family and their supporters did not threaten force or use firearms in fighting their cause until the BLM started threatening and using tazers to get them to stand down. he government agency, the BLM, over reacted with an unnecessary show of force and riled up the public to Mr. Bundy’s defense.
