  I had a student tell me that his puppy peed on his assignment. “Right,” I said in disbelief. Then the student pulled out a wrinkled, yellow-stained assignment. “Just throw is away,” I said, and redo it for tomorrow.

  Plain and simple, I can say from the trenches (I am a high school English teacher) that the push toward political correctness has gone waaaaay past acceptible. Bottomline, many parents are far too manipulative. I am a public school teacher and there is NO WAY my son will ever be found attending the public school I teach in. I see what the elementary and middle schools send me and want my child to be no part of it. My husband and I decided we’d live on PB&J if it meant affording the local parochial school. Note to all parents: If you can even remotely afford it–spend a day with your child at school. You can’t be turned away. YOU pay a portion of the salaries of ever individual employed in that school!! Get your money’s worth. Keep in touch with teachers via email; attend Parent/Teacher Conferences; get involved with your child and their education Kindergarten thru 12! If you don’t like what is being taught, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AS A PARENT TO REQUEST AN ALTERNATIVE ASSIGNMENT/PROJECT. Did you know this! Keep in mind that 90-99% of public school educators are very progressive and liberal in their beliefs. This spills over into their daily lessons and how materials are skewed in the classroom. Get involved is the best I can offer!!!
