  Your partialy right, Thats why they amended the constitution the way the founders had set it up so that slavery could be done away with. Incidentaly the constitution does not sanction slavery it reserves that decisions to the states and their individual governments to decide. Thats why there were free and slave states. The only thing it accounts for slavery is in regards to the representation in the congress which is determinded by the census. Which is why the founders were brilliant enough to ensure slavery’s demise when they established the constitution with the 3/5 clause. The founders understood you can’t right all the wrongs of the world in a single day or force people to accept what they aren’t ready for, so they prepared the way to abolish it. I love how ignorant Americans always try and trot slavery out as Americas big eyesore but be that as it may America still stands ahead of the world in that under our constitution and government slavery existed for only 72 years before we abolished it. that is an accomplishment the rest of the world couldn’t achieve in 6000 years of recorded history and thats because we tried to do it the peaceful way first. All the rest of the slavery on this continent is the result of european oppression go complain to England, France, Spain, and portugal if you want to cry.

  @ Zappa Rules & Molon Labe: I didn’t know gays were a race? And before you start accusing people of being close minded, Bigoted or discriminative I suggest you look at your own anti religious bigoted comments. First of all did I ever say I was against gay marriage? I believe it is morally wrong but I also hold the DOM act to be unconstitutional. My argument has been against the intolerance, thug tactics forced acceptance, and attacks on disagreeing points of view. I have gay friends and colleagues and have told them if the voice of the people elects to support gay marriage then so be it. As long as the rights of the individual to disagree or call it wrong are still defended. Which has not been the case. especially in the academic circles. I will have to challenge your comment that the facts are just being presented is a lot of bull crap. I have been a teacher sir I have seen kids for their morals have themselves and their parents publicly belittled, harrased, and persecuted not because they said gays were evil or filthy or were any way discriminative only because they still said it was morally wrong. Since when do my morals have to change to align with yours view. the intolerant one is the person who mocks somebodies beliefs and says its wrong based on his own theories of reality. Magic friend? I used to advocate some levels of evolution and still do but I find more reality in spiritual experiments I have tested hypotheses on and found true rather than one mans flawed view.

  @ Harry Potter-you mean like when people say homosexuality is morally wrong or evolutionarily stagnant and the gay community retaliates by slandering, persecuting, and trying to use law and government agencies to punish you legislatively, financially and socially. Take away your rights as a private business or property owner, force you to provide service in support of a lifestyle that violates your right of concsience, disrespects their values and rights by attemtping to disrupt, bully, or harm their businesses,religious services,charitable organizations and sponsers. And on top of that indoctrinate their youth behind their backs into accepting something their parents say is wrong and then the teachers and peers undermine the values of the parents or take it out on the child? you mean that kind of harm and bullying? Maybe the gay community should start practicing tolerance before it demands it of others. The root word of tolerance is tolerate which means I may have to accept you have a right to believe what you want it does not mean I have to support accept, or endorse your choice and it doesn’t make me a bigot to disagree or oppose you.Its amazing in our current culture how everone wants respect for their view but shows little interest in extending that same courtesy to those who oppose them.

  Sorry but your hypocritically supporting a dual standard. As a private service and charity organization that was founded on Judeo Christian values to enforce those values (see founders intent). To ask that a private organization that requires no one to be apart of to abandon their moral values as a requirment of their charitable status is the height of discrimination.It is the same as saying because your a religion or charitable organization that endorses gay marriage you can have the exemption but if you don’t then you can’t is the height of bigotry and hypocrisy. No one is forced to be a boyscout, your free to form your own youth groups if you wish. You do not have to associate in any way. Your intolerance shows through in that you want to force a group that has a century worth of community service and experience behind it to abandon their beliefs cause you disagree with them. Their charitable record and character building program( based on Judeo christian values SEE scout OATH AND LAW)is unreputable. Incidentaly Gays and atheists can be scouts no one asks as scout their belief status or sexual orientation when you join. But their the hypocrites in that they are partaking in an organization they don’t believe in. Other wise they can be a scout like any other as long as they abide by the oath and law.   Unfortunately the supreme court has already ruled in opposition to yourview because marriages are civil union on the law whether performed by religion or civil official. The constitution does not gaurantee anyone the right to marriage it has always been a civil liberty accorded to the states and to the people in that state to decide what they except and what they don’t. The supreme court has already ruled on this issue multiple times. This is why your civil rights argument is wrong. Although I think the DOM act is unconstitutional the states have the right(hence why marriage benefits are different to each state) If New york wants gay marriage then they can elect to do so the same is true for California when theysay they don’t want it. The supreme court in the past has already ruled on this issue in regards to past marriage practices it didn’t agree with. If you wish to do this legally and promote that this is a civil right an amendment to the constitution must be proposed and ratified according to the constitution because of the law the way it has been set up. Any other way is oppression by the minority to force people to support something they don’t through, taxation legal recognition etc. I would also like to pose a question If we allow gay marriage will you still allow us to say it is wrong. Forgive me if I’m skeptical because historically in regards to, speech, race, political correctness,and religion. Leftists fail to practice what they preach.
