  • Under duress, people tend to shoot high, especially those with limited training. The guy was probably aiming center mass, or center of whatever part of the target was exposed. Pretty good shooting, actually, all things considered.

  • I like Allen West, and admire him as a Soldier. I’m an Army Reserve officer, and I’d be proud to have him as my Battalion or even Brigade Commander, especially in a combat environment. I remember reading the article regarding his interrogation of a detainee in Stars and Stripes while I was on my first deployment, and I was struck by his courage and integrity. But he left the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel. That does not give him the strategic depth of experience we need in a SecDef. Petraeus is a much better candidate, and a likely one. West is doing a great job in Congress. Let him get a little more seasoning there, or possibly in the Senate, and in a few years, I think he’ll definitely be ready to take on even greater leadership roles. Maybe SecArmy in a few years. But I don’t think he’s ready for SecDef. Yet.

  • Communism Survivor,

What part of “sarcastic” did you not understand? I AGREE with you! My point was that people have been excusing crass behavior (breast-feeding in public, using profanity, dressing like a thug or a harlot) for so long based on the excuse that it’s “natural” or “we shouldn’t judge”, that this kind of thing is just the natural progression of a society that is falling into chaos.

When our society abandoned God, we abandoned morality. And when we abandoned morality, civility wasn’t going to be far behind.

  • Oh wow. Apparently, except for STA, most of you missed that I was being sarcastic!! The point is, once people start excusing doing things in public that should be done in private, just because it’s a “natural function”, that all bets are off. When my wife breastfed, she did it in private. Because she has class!! And we when potty trained our kids, we did that in private too. This woman’s behavior…and frankly, many of your reactions to my post, as well…just demonstrates further how crass we’ve become as a society.

  • Yeah, and the Democrat vision is clear, too: “I want what’s yours!”

  • Please, people…this is a perfectly natural function, and we have no right to impose our prudish, oppressive beliefs on this mother. At least, that’s what they say about women who breast-feed in public…really, what’s the difference?

Oooohhhhhhh, I am SOOOOO gonna get some hate mail over this one!

  • How’s this American Airlines story for you. I’m an Army Reserve Soldier. At the end of the pre-deployment training for my last deployment, all of my Soldiers and I were given a 4-day pass to go home (at our expense) and spend some time with our families before heading overseas for 10 months. My fligh out of El Paso was delayed, so I was going to have only a few minutes to make my connecting flight from Atlanta to my home of record (there were no direct flights). There were half a dozen of us on this flight, all in uniform. I asked the crew if they could call ahead and ask them to hold the flight for a few minutes so we could make the connection. The crew said they would and the captain told me that they had. They let us off first and we sprinted to the desk for the departing flight. Just in time to see it pull away from the gate. If they had held that plane for 5 minutes past it’s scheduled departure time, we’d have made it. Instead we had the choice of waiting till the next morning, renting a car and driving 6 hours to our home city, or flying to an alternate airport 3 hours away. I chose the last option. And I also decided that I would never fly on American again.

  • How about being poor in virtually any other country in the world, you mindless twit!?

  • Ohhhhh…isn’t that cute? Chris Matthews thinks people still listen to him….

  • John, the problem is that they won’t stop with cafeteria food. We’ve already had incidents where students were forced to eat cafeteria food because their bag lunches weren’t good enough, and where certain food were banned from schools altogether. It’s an issue of personal choice, and this is just one more area for the nanny state to get involved in.
