  Some people might say that this was not the right avenue for this kind of expression. A more appropriate avenue would have been one that could be quietly ignored. This student had his heart and mind in the right place. That teacher deserved those words. I hope that student marched straight down to the principal’s office and enlightened him. A teacher who is apathetic about her job reinforces apathy in the students. A teacher who is interested in the topic and devoted to teaching the students will create interest int he topic and a more attentive student.

  Ghost of Jefferson is right. If it were not for the fermentation of beer (or the invention of pasteurization, which was not discovered until much later), mankind would have had to maintain a hunter-gatherer lifestyle because of water pollution. Agriculture, livestock and settlements tend to spoil the water in the area but making beer out of it makes the water drinkable again. During the 100 years war, the English army had to retreat from a campaign they were winning because they were running out of wine.
