Being on the dole here in CA isn’t so bad. There is a whole neighborhood by my kids High School that is section 8, even in a bad market the houses are worth 400k, 2 story 3 car garages. Every driveway has at least an Escalade, Tahoe, Avalanche or Navigator in it with chrome 20″ wheels and maybe an older Explorer,XTerra or a Excursion. You can tell when someone has a birthday because there will be a big inflatable jumper in the front yard. The only downside is when you shop at the Walmart in the same neighborhood the lines are slow because the first cart is WIC/Foodstamps and the second cart is a big screen or something, but that goes fast because they usually pay with a wad of $20s. Pretty much every kid that gets free school lunches has an Iphone or an Android. LIfe on the dole isn’t all bad at least here in CA.
