    Makes perfect sense. Read about church government as established by God in the new testament. Elders and Deacons (however your church defines them), which includes pastors, are held to a higher standard w/in the confines of their job. They cannot hold such a position while not holding to Christian principles. Does this mean they cannot be a member of the church, no, anyone can join and then begin to walk away from their life of sin and walk in faith with Jesus. But, once you are installed as an elder, deacon, or pastor…church leadership…then its a whole different ball game. While none can be without sin, members who are raised into positions of leadership must be above reproach, financially sound, etc and must be working to discipline and correct sin in the body of believers. Please go read it before you attempt to put your twist on what the Bible says.

    What on earth is the teacher doing discussing this on Facebook? She shouldn’t be employed at any school anywhere. Hyphenated last name says it all. Don’t care if the mom brought it out in the open and made it a public issue or not. A parent has that right. A teacher needs to keep her pie whole shut, teach, and refer discipline issues to the principal and the administration. Period. I’d toss her out the front door so fast it’d make her head spin.

    That’s OK Mr. President, for the last X decades, gun control has come from a small idiotic faction of our federal government. Suck it up, pull up your big girl britches, and get used to it! Pansy!

    Unfortunately, nowhere we are gonna be able to go w/ this folks. Get used to it. It’s coming in every state, red or blue. Being homosexual is now defined on equal footing as your race. They have been smart. Gain acceptance as being ‘normal’, just like being female, black, whatever. Then, claim ‘public domain’ businesses cannot refuse service. Just like the civil rights movement. Done. Not saying its right. Not saying I believe being homosexual is ‘normal’ and equivalent to race. It’s just the way it is. People and companies should be free to determine who they will accept as a customer and who they do not. Free market economy should determine whether they stay in business. But that ain’t gonna happen in this country, so give it a rest. It’s now gonna be either serve anyone that walks thru your doors, or close your doors.

    Actually, you are right, it’s not my job to do the converting…but its commanded to ‘show them the light’ and share your faith (go into all the corners of the world and make disciples of all men) and then it’s up to the Lord whether or not they convert and follow him. You are to be a messenger. If you are not doing that, you are not being obedient to God.

    “It isn’t your job to try to convert or make people ‘see the light’.”

    really? haven’t read your Bible today have you?

    Just the first of many liberals that are gonna be thrown for a loop and question their very existence over this story as it unfolds. On the one hand, you have a foreigner involved, which liberal/proggies LOVE to death because they are not from the United States, but rather from the ‘civilized’ world outside of the US. While on the other hand, they have some black youths, which are their favorite home grown minority group to marginalize and take advantage of…oh, what to do, what to do. It’ll be fun to watch them explode on national television. Got an image of Beavis or Butthead going out of control.

    this may be news for some folks, or it may not. if you are meeting with John Kerry and a high ranking official in the DNC, you might want to reevaluate who you consider to be a ‘Christian’ and whether you need to do some more soul searching yourself. Any high ranking DNC member (Rob Duggar) has to have supported Obama, one or both of the Clinton, John Kerry…should I continue the list. None of these people are honest, decent, honorable, or truthful. So, do the math. Mr. Astin needs to wear enough of his faith on his sleeve to give his testimony, otherwise, he’s grouped in with the rest of the ‘religious’ crowd. Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson are [cough] clergy!

    @jerk,

    Um, Muhammad est. 570-632. Islam and Muslim claim to any of this region cannot pre-date him. Fact. Prior to his existence, this particular group of people were nomads at best. Fact. Judaism predates everything in the area. Fact. Get your facts straight.

    You are fresh out of college aren’t you?

    As a homeowner, and a gun owner, and a die hard defend myself and my family with overwhelming firepower…the grandfather in this story should have stayed the crap in the house. You don’t go out policing your property hoping to get the upper hand. Didn’t matter if it was cops or burglars or the boogie man. Stay inside, call the police. If they come in unannounced, well all bets are off. Had he done that, dispatch would have told him stay inside, officers are in the area investigating a burglary. Ugh. No story here. Bad situation. Wrong place and time. Tragic. But not what the title would indicate.

    um. I can register any website I want…www.amabo.com maybe (Obama backwards)…and set it up to redirect to any other site that I want. ugh. use the brain that God gave you please.

    keep your eyes on the ball. stop w/ the conspiracy crap. there is enough real stuff right in front of your face to deal with.

    @MN Nice,

    Pretty sure gravity is the same as when you are younger, so it’s not gravity kicking your ****…its old age and additional weight. Not that hasn’t gotten me as well. Haha.

    Here’s a tip for the various state DOT agencies around the country. Stop doing work in the middle of the freakin’ day. On the off chance you have no other alternative, why don’t you get out there off your 10-watching-1-work butts and barricade/tape the area off BEFORE traffic gets going. I’m not saying this doofus was or wasn’t paying attention, but its clear from the picture the tape wasn’t up. Honest mistake? Probably not. DOT did their job up front? Definitely not.

  • July 15, 2013 at 1:40pm

    if I had a nickel for every DOT working I’ve seen standing around w/ their thumb up their rear watching another guy work, I’d be rich too. My tax dollars hard at work. Not like you guys don’t do and re-do work all the time anyway, what’s one more repaving.

    Ah, the magical .45 auto that vaporizes all attackers with one shot. Second only to the shotgun that does not have to be aimed. Second only to the pump shotgun who’s pump chambering sound even scares Navy Seals and makes them cry. Not sure where the muzzle blast of the .357 that makes all wet their pants and run, but I’m sure its in there somewhere. C’mon folks, stop w/ the myths and gun (fish) stories…they are so tired.

    No question the church leadership needs to get rid of this guy. He’s unstable. Nothing in the Bible advocates this type of behavior from a pastor/minister/officer. It’s extremely clear how church government should be structured and how one Christian should deal with a grievance or address outward sin from another Christian. He’s way way way off his rocker on this one. For those of you that claimed ‘Jesus got angry’. Well, it was ONCE and it was directed at the abomination going on in the temple w/ regard to the temple being used inappropriately. Furthermore, um…Jesus was the Son of God. This guy is NOT. The same authority is NOT given to pastors, church officers, etc. Again, read the instruction in the new testament about how this is to be handled. This pastor needs to be first approached by the officers of the church, those in authority over him, and dealt with privately. If he does not repent of this behavior and change his attitude, then he should resign or be fired.

    randomousity,

    your arguments are just stupid. want to steal your neighbors tv, fine. want to legislate it, that’s imposing. want to shoot your gun in the air, fine. want to legislate it, that’s imposing. want to punch someone in the face, fine. want to legislate it, that’s imposing. at some point, you have to define what is right and wrong. abortion is wrong, just like killing, just like rape, just like stealing. being gay is wrong, just like lying, stealing, whatever. if you can’t call wrong wrong and right right, then don’t get involved in government and laws…you don’t know what you are talking about. somewhere, somehow, laws have to be made, something has to set the bar of wrong and right.
