  • I love this article. It does beg the question: What does President Obama read? I remember whenever we would see George W. Bush walking to and from his helicopter, that he always had a book under his arm. Sometimes we could ascertain what he was reading, other times he would show us the book’s jacket and we would know. What does Obama read?
My bet is mostly nothing or self help books on golf. It does explain a lot with regard to the economy. He and his team think they know it all already, which is why our depressed economy staggers forward instead or walking tall and proud.

  • Jodi Arias Says She Wants to Die

    May 9, 2013 at 1:06pm

Very shrewd psychological ploy. Now that we all know she is guilty of premeditated first degree murder, we might be predisposed to not grant her anything that she wishes. By publicly announcing her desire for capital punishment, Arias knows that it will in all likelihood open the door further for a life in prison sentence. Me…regardless of her public posturing, implement the sentence that makes the most sense with regard to the crime committed.

Now my bias is of a person that came of age in the 70s and 80s, whereby feminists insisted that men and women were the same and must be regarded the same rights, responsibilities and privileges that our society can provide to all of its people. So I have no difficulty asking for the death penalty for any person, regardless of their gender. For me, this is the truest expression of equality under the law and we should have zero hesitation putting this woman, or any other, to the needle for heinous and aggravated crimes.

  • When the SHTF, this is exactly how I want the leftist population to behave in my home state: stupid and stoned.

  • If any readers had occasion to see the exchanges between Michael Yon and MSgt Grisham, you would see that MSgt Grisham has an elevated sense of importance and desires to be the all-knowing, all-caring center of attention. I suspect that now he has retired from the Army, his loss of status now beckons him to seek attention–what better way to do it than by making a new nemesis out of local law enforcement, thereby eliciting national attention via Glenn Beck and The Blaze. Be very careful with this man, as he understands how to ensure sympathy for himself via words and deeds and has no problem portraying himself as a “victim” and using “he said/she said” type scenarios to further his attention-gathering needs. Grisham will intentionally provoke, and will call attention to his integrity, honor, duty, etc., while deriding the same traits in Law Enforcement officers, their agencies and the law. Remember, this is all to garner attention and status for himself rather than highlight challenges with the 2nd Amendment. For me, the timing of these events is suspicious in light of the bills in the Senate this week. The cure for all of this is casual indifference, which MSgt Grisham can not stand.

  • When I read this article, I was saddened and then became angry. In 2004, there were coordinated train attacks in Madrid, Spain, which eventually led to the fall of the Conservative Spanish government…one that was solvent and sided with the US when the GWOT was initiated after the 9/11 attacks. Look at Spain today with years of Social Democrat governance.

Texas is a battle ground for traditional America and the liberty of its citizens, in addition to showing how to run a state impervious to economic downturn and excessive centralized spending. If its citizens lose faith in their elected officials, or their elected officials cower in the face of this evil (as occurred in Spain), then Texas can be transitioned into the same moral morass that we see in Spain, California and other Democrat controlled states. It cannot happen…Texas is a beacon for freedom-loving citizens everywhere and it cannot fail because of these terror acts.

Stand fast Texas….the people of America stand with you.

  • This is no more stupid than setting up a stock market for the purpose of trading carbon credits.

My only concern is that for one to have squatter’s rights to property, do you not have to first squat on the property? This guy hasn’t done so, but I welcome his attempt to fulfill this part of his scheme as soon as he can afford it, or whenever we can send him there gratis.

  • One wonders if certain elements of the Mexican citizenry, appalled at the criminal and drug elements of their home town, are now taking matters into their own hands. It is obvious that the Mexican government can not uphold their duty to protect and serve its people, so now the people, knowing that they are on their own, are settling accounts with their former tormentors. I believe this is the start of a reckoning perpetrated by honorable Mexicans against those that would otherwise do them harm. Coming to an American town near you, very soon.

  • Let’s see…this target practice was conducted after school hours during a night time shift. Who else was in the building? Who reported the incident?

Could this not have been solved with the school administration telling him to stop because it is unlawful to bring the gun on school grounds, even during after school hours? Or that the place where he was shooting did not have proper ventilation, nor proper bullet collection systems in place, nor anyone to ensure his safety should something go wrong?

I fail to see the need for any law enforcement action when adult/supervisory action can accomplish the same thing…particularly with a law abiding citizen where there was no immediate public safety issue other than the safety of the janitor.

That this makes the news because it is a “crime” is appalling. We have lost our minds when we look to prosecute citizens who have made simple mistakes easily corrected via verbal counseling. Apparently the school administration is so scared they fear the attribution of accountability, so everything goes to law enforcement and external judges. Shameful.

  • The Jesuit tradition in the Catholic Church is one dedicated to knowledge and education, and Pope Francis is a Jesuit priest. In the US, Jesuit teachings have manifested itself in some of the strangest ways when you see major Catholic Universities embracing things and ideas that the Catholic Church is steadfast against, whether it is capital punishment, abortion or contraception. It is interesting that the new Pope has embraced “Francis” as his name…the Franciscan Order is one whereby the faithful walk a path of humility and poverty…totally in opposition to the opulence that characterizes the current Church in Rome. Pope John Paul I had this same outlook, but sadly died only one month into his Papacy.

  • Yes it’s true. All military families who have lost their Tuition Assistance because of the sequester, are invited to participate. “You could look it up” (hat tip: Casey Stengle). SARC/OFF
