  • “…have made clear they want the ban on gay adults lifted as well.” Give it some time and the ban on gay adults will be lifted too.

  • This kid was wrong. Period. I don’t care how lame his teacher(s) are….you should NEVER disrespect them! I bet you a MILLION dollars he talks this way to his parents too!! Give him a few more years and he will be talking this way to ALL authority…cops, school principle, grandparents…the list goes on.

  • I have a question…and I would like to know your thoughts. If that were you on the third floor and you were watching what was happening like the fellow who took these pictures. And you legally had a weapon(CCL, etc.)…would you have engaged the two brothers from the window with your firearm?

    YES or NO

FYI: I do have my CCL and I believe in the 2nd.

    Thanks!

  • This CRITIQUE OF ‘THE BIBLE’ was written by Bob Vradenburgh, my Pastor….I have his permission to use his essay.

  • The entire story of the beheading of John the Baptist has been rewritten. John is depicted as a ‘Rastafarian’ with dreadlocks. He is recast as being in prison because he is a political threat. Nothing at all is said of his affair with Herodias and the rash vow he made to Herodias’ daughter that led to John’s beheading! Herod Antipas is shown in the same cell with John pressing him as to whether he believed the Messiah had come. Nothing is said about the moral sin that really led to John’s martyrdom!
While most of the other characters have grungy, grimy ****, the ‘Jesus’ actor always has perfect “Vidal Sassoon” ****. Thus, Jesus is romanticized.
At Christ’s baptism, He is shown coming up out of the water all wet. The camera pans away showing the clouds, but nothing is said about the voice of the Father from Heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased,” or the descent of the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove. Thus the truth of the Trinity is conspicuously missing. One cannot help but wonder if Bishop T.D. Jakes who advised the producers exerted an influence upon them here.
In the depiction of Christ’s raising of Lazarus from the dead, the method employed by Jesus is His kissing of the head of the dead corpse. Nothing at all is said about the power of Jesus’ actual words, “Lazarus, come forth.” Sentiment is preferred above accuracy.
When Jesus caused the miraculous catch of fish, according to Luke 5:1-11, no

  • Burnett and Downey take some liberties that are just inexcusable.
The Bible does not mention a slaughter of the Sodomites by the angels of the Lord. Yet in the miniseries there is an entire action sequence reminiscent of Gladiator.
In the crucial story of Abraham’s offering up of Isaac with its overtones of the substitionary death of Jesus, the biblical account of Genesis 22 tells us that Abraham travelled three days to get to the place of sacrifice. But the miniseries shows Sarah frantically scrambling up a nearby hill to save her son.
Likewise, a rivalry between Pharaoh’s son and Moses is not recorded in the Bible; yet this rivalry plays a prominent role in the depiction of the Exodus.
Daniel is represented as a man with “visionary powers,” while the Bible says expressly that Daniel possessed no such natural powers, but that God revealed it to him as the occasion demanded.
When the scene shifts to the New Testament in the third episode, the inaccuracies become even more glaring and inexcusable. Because of the media, many people are hung up over the fact that the character depicting Satan looks like Barack Obama. But that should be the least of a discerning Christian’s concerns!

  • However this TV miniseries has many historical inaccuracies as well as theological errors. Some of the historical mistakes are relatively minor slip-ups like:
The rainbow of Noah’s time appeared before the flood waters had receded
Abraham and Sarah did not have their names changed by God.
The number of Israelites in the Exodus was not nearly enough (Ex. 12:37-38).
Bathsheba did not dance with David while her husband Uriah was looking on! In reality, Uriah was a dutiful soldier and was away at war the whole time David carried on his affair.
It was not Cyrus that threw Daniel into the lions’ den, but Darius.
Isaiah was not in Babylon with Daniel when he wrote his prophecy.
While some of these discrepancies can be attributed to artistic license, a tendency for “drama,” or the limitations of time, there are others that show utter disregard for important biblical and theological truth.
The fact of sin and the need for repentance is often watered down. According to the miniseries, Nathan comes to David after his sin and says, “Even though you are weak, God loves you, David,” when in reality the Bible records God’s prophet as saying, “The LORD also hath taken away thy sin. Thou shalt not die.” Quite a difference! A most poignant Gospel reference is omitted.

  • CRITIQUE OF ‘THE BIBLE’
The History Channel’s popular TV mini-series

The Bible is a five-part, ten-hour docudrama that premiered on the History Channel from March 3 to 13. According to Nielsen – it made the No. 1 televised entertainment of the year on cable TV. It was three years in the making and was produced by the husband-and-wife team of Mark Burnett (of Survivor) and Roma Downey (Touched by an Angel). It attempts a very selective coverage from Genesis to Revelation with the stated purpose of “improving Bible literacy rather than evangelizing.”

Thinking Christians are asking, “Is this series faithful to the Bible?” The answer is, “For the most part, NO!” There are some scenes and stories that do not distort the true Bible account. To its credit, The Bible develops believable characters that in many cases do justice to the actual people they portray. There is a good bit of violence (and there is much violence in the Bible), but no nudity, and the two sexual scenes in the movie are handled discreetly.

  • Elizabeth, should come on over to the Blaze.

  • If the Gays are allowed in the BSA…they will next go for taking God out of the BSA…
