They also base these numbers on those who pay the FIRST premium… how about the second or even third? The bill does not stop, it goes on FOREVER!

You can bet every one of those cyclists also owns a car or two and pays insurance and taxes for the roads just the same as everyone else. Currently just finished a 27 mile ride on one of those 4k bikes you have so much disdain for! I follow the law, signal, stop at lights… I also wear that spandex and other gear because it makes the ride much more comfortable and yes, it is for my health! I have lost 65 pounds, look and feel great, no longer spend hours on the couch watching TV and have found a wonderful world out there. Sidewalks are NO PLACE for bikes… you can not ride 27 miles anywhere but on a road and it is impossible to ride far to the right unless you want to have constant flats hitting all the trash over there… it is dangerous dodging all that trash! By the way, our tires cost as much as the ones on the car! As for riding on or near that white line, it is sometimes the smoothest part of the road, we have a good view of things you do not see, dodging potholes, trash, rocks and roadkill!

You are an arrogant, selfish nuisance.
Good for you HOTFIXIT! While I agree with most things that Blaze readers stand for, they all sound really stupid commenting on this article. If someone wants to ride their bicycle on the road then drivers better watch where they are going and give them room. The last thing they would want is to end someones life because they are in too big of a hurry.
Richard, listen to your mother, quit spending so much time in front of your mirror.
Like it or not Gents, These are TOYS! Expensive Toys maybe, but still TOYS!...And You are PLAYING!...Didn't your Mom ever tell you not to PLAY in traffic?
high school drop out has an apt name. Bicycles are transport just as much as cars are.
So, you can't ride in your lane because you might hit some trash? Instead you invade the space of vehicles weighing thousands of pounds and traveling much faster than you? That almost makes sense.
Are you going the speed limit?
Are you as visible as an automobile?
Will the automobile get just as much damage as the bicycle and the rider
in the event of an accident?
Do you have a license plate on the bicycle?
Do you pay a road or gasoline tax on the bicycle?
I have found the worst bicycle riders are between the ages of about
20 and 40. They don't care how many cars are slowly driving behind them. The ride through red lights in the cross walk. Road laws don't seem to apply to them, some of them that is, not all.
The problem usually is not the lone rider or two. The problem gets to be when groups get together and ride 3 or 4 abreast all over the lane and they refuse to narrow it down to single file, riding 20mph on a 45 mph road with a double yellow line. Even a car pulling a trailer is suppose to yield and pull over on a shoulder or use a turnout when other cars cannot pass. Those are the rules for all vehicles including your 4K road bike. Can't help that it's not smooth enough for you or if the shoulder is littered with crap. You are using a public road and you don't get special exemptions unless they are in the vehicle code.
You missed RichardRahl's point. License tags are for identification so that, like any other vehicle, you can be tracked down for leaving the scene. Insurance is to pay for any damage you cause fellow travelers in case of an accident. It's a reasonable requirement, except the part about the gym - it would be unreasonable to force you to join a gym.

The truck driver was at fault driving in the bike lane and cutting off the bike. Bikes are considered vehicles and should be given the same space as you would another car. Yes, there are some cyclists who are self absorbed but it does not give drivers the right to kill them. The driver could have easily killed this cyclist! As to the camera, it is now common for riders to use go pros on their bikes because drivers do not follow the law and they need the camera evidence. Especially when it results in death and the only one available to say anything is the driver who will blame it on the cyclist.
....the bike lane is on the other side of the road......the parked cars on the left are a few feet off the curb.....look at the very beginning of the tape....you can see the bike lane crossing the intersection....

So many opinions.. you were not there, you do not know the true relationship between these dogs. I had a dog who would do the same thing but I could easily take a food bowl away from her without any difficulty.. take food out of her mouth but she did this at times and it was PLAY! She was about the same size as this little dog when she was full grown and her play partner was a german shepard..they were play partners for years. This video came from a friend of mine.. these dogs are just fine.

Glass! It is amazing when they do break… Looks like a waterfall because it shatters into so many small pieces. Doesn’t happen very often. Been going to games for 12 years and have seen it about 5 times.

My Shiloh does the exact same thing every time I get in the shower.. she is allowed on the bed though. If an animal is stinking up the place, they need a bath!

Odessa, TX Loop 338 West Side Walmart Police had to use pepper spray to disperse crowd that were trampling a child that had fallen and would not let him up! Video is on facebook but is not clear what is happening, more information was received from the person who recorded the video. CRAZY PEOPLE!!

The thing is.. if he had another heart attack today, he would receive immediate and appropriate care at any hospital! It would not matter if he had insurance or not! It is the law. People receive care and actually those without insurance frequently receive better care than those with insuance because there is not insurance company in the way to deny care and treatments that are recommended while a person is in a hospital. Social services comes in to help figure out how to pay the bill and if you are an illegal.. don’t worry, it is all FREE!
Good call. Funny concept, I guess. But it comes around back to "thou shalt not judge." In most situations, its completely possible to give people the benefit of the doubt. Why do we want to jump to the worst possible conclusion? I suspect two reasons: 1) We are deficient in love, which leads to our failure to "do unto others as we would have them do unto us" (I know I appreciate when people give me the benefit of the doubt when I put my foot in my mouth), and 2) other peoples' shortcomings make us feel better about ourselves.

They love saying ‘This does not make any difference’. Well,,, it does make a difference. He is taking a stand… he is doing it. What are others doing to make a difference? What are you doing? I know I have not done enough.

It is forcing the medical system into a ‘cash’ system. I have insurance but it is cheaper for me to just pay cash instead of filing through my insurance. I am having an MRI next week. If I go through my insurance I have to pay $1,200 toward my deductable of $5,000 but if I just pay cash up front it is only $326! Guess which one I chose!

I pay $90 every 2 weeks for my insurance. Lousey insurance! Have a neck injury from a bicycle accident. Saw Dr. and ended up paying cash because it was less expensive than going through the insurance. Now I am having an MRI which I will be paying 100% out of pocket because this ‘insurance’ doesn’t cover ANYTHING until I am out of pocket $5,000 .. they sure are raking in the cash now! I have to give a $50 co-pay for every doctor appointment that is not even included in that $5,000 out of pocket deductable… what a scam!

It is a boon to business.. the medical insurance business! I am paying $90 every 2 weeks for insurance that pays absolutely NOTHING! I had a severe accident on my bike last week .. was uncouscious.. I did not see a doctor because I have a $5000 deductable before they pay anything. I can’t afford that! Stilll having headaches and my ribs are killing me but the insurance company says I have to pay out all that before they will pick up anything. CRAZY!!! I have never seen such useless insurance before..

The oil and chemical industry is booming.. no thanks to Obama.. just the private industry at its best… it is almost impossible to find knowlegable and experienced workers anywhere! We have untrained workers in these jobs doing things without a clue what they are doing and the danger they are in working with these chemicals… ignorance is bliss until something goes boom!

Obamacare has alread changed the way medicines are approved. A cough medicine my mother has used before was denied under her medicare and supplemental plan yesterday based on her AGE stating that due to her age it could possibly make her dizzy! She has taken it before, her doctor approved it for her and she is a healthy active person with no reason to suspect it could cause a problem. It was just no longer approved solely based on age. Now deny specific care base on age only… Socialized medicine in full form is actually HERE!
