  • Anybody remember Liberty Dollars?

  • “He went on to note that we live in a dangerous world and that there are some who wish to take away Americans’ freedoms” — Bloomberg is the first person who comes to mind.
“And our laws and our interpretation of the Constitution, I think, have to change.” I thought our Constitution was written in clear English. Perhaps he meant the Arabic interpretation is incorrect.
“You still want to let people practice their religion, no matter what that religion is,” So if they practice human sacrifice we will tolerate it? Waco and YFZ Ranch jump to mind.

If you gave up all you freedoms and entered our most secure institutions – our prisons – you would find they are still rampant with gangs, drugs, thefts, assaults, rape, and murder.

    In reply to LEFT_NY_4_GOOD.

In the sixties my fifth grade teacher with that name pronounced it ****. Was always good for a few giggles.

  • One of my favorite quotes:
“It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning cannot be applied to this great charter. If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no
progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction cannot lay claim to progress. They are reactionary. Their ideas are not more modern, but more ancient, than those of the Revolutionary fathers.” Calvin Coolidge

  • I’ve been a libertarian since I discovered there was such a thing back in the 60′s.
    Laissez-faire capitalism = liberty.
You can’t have one without the other. This is just another attempt by the left to redefine our language. Since libertarianism is finally being discovered by more and more of the people, I suspect it is Maher who is attempting to ruin it.

  • “The horrendous evils in the world are not carried out by tyrants but by millions of normally good people ‘just doing their job’ “.

  • Smoking is the only issue that has more junk science associated with it than global warming.
When someone says “studies show”, the first words out of your mouth should be “show me the studies”. Do some research on risk verses benefits and you will learn that smoking is closer to a miracle drug than aspirin. That’s why people smoke. You can follow all the big anti-smoking money right back to the big drug companies.

  • “non-thinking Christians” Their words – not mine. Thinking people aren’t easily recruited to either side.

  • This new cult of atheism is actively recruiting the “non-thinking Christians” to their cause. So then we end up with a world full of non-thinking atheists? Who will their new leader be? Sounds pretty scary to me.

“Duh, I’m an independent thinker ’cause I’m an atheist now and I will join with atheist worship groups, ridicule Christians, and broadcast to the world that I am an atheist so everyone knows how smart I am.”

  • “Religion has also caused more human deaths than any one thing ever.” No –throughout history, governments are the number one cause of unnecessary deaths. That is the common denominator. It’s when religion is the government that they contribute to the death tolls.
