There’s no conspiracy here. This happens at SNL ALL THE TIME. They do a two hour dress rehearsal to test sketches in front of an audience and then, between 10:00pm and 11:30pm, they cut an entire 30 minutes of material.

Often times you’ll see a sketch that was the cold open, or at least high in the rundown, do poorly and then get shifted down in the lineup or cut entirely. This has happened literally every single week for 37 years.

It was cut by Lorne Michaels and a small group of decision makers based on COMEDY, not by NBC or for any other reason.

I know that you’re a true supporter, Karen, and we all appreciate that very much. Truly.

We know there’s a huge void for comedy that is fair, funny, and unique. We run ourselves into the ground trying to do that each week to make you (our audience) laugh. That’s the goal – to put a smile on people’s faces.

I’m going to do something I’ve never done and defend a sketch on a message board. I’m not interested in defending myself or The Experts or anything else…but I will defend this sketch.

Your premise is that Conservatives don’t appreciate this sketch because they care about people where Progressives don’t. Caring about people IS THE POINT OF THIS PIECE. We used our method of expression to show how insane it is to not help someone who is within reach of being saved. What can be better aligned with the Conservative values of which you speak? Our sketch says it’s terrible to sit idly by. Glenn always preaches about helping your neighbor and not waiting for the government (in this case the police) to do it for you. Well, that’s what we say in this sketch. You can not like sketches – that’s fine. That’s what comes with working in comedy (some sketches will be loved, some won’t land). But the premise that it doesn’t work because it violates Conservative principles is flat wrong. Our statement has been made, and we’re proud of it and stand by it.

Thank you for your continued support of the show, though! Very much appreciated.

However, most Conservatives will not appreciate the humor of the guy who was thrown onto the subway and killed. Too soon, my friend. We are not Progressives, we actually do care about people who are brutally murdered. Had you done the skit in like 6 months, it probably would have been better received. But no gua
