  • forget rape, people should be able to have access to abortions when they need them. Choosing if and when to have a child is up to the mother within whom the baby is residing. Why don’t people go spend their energies making sure ALL of the living are in good shape before worring about the unborn.

  • so what do you advocate since most rapes are committed by friends? sit down on the couch next to a male friend, point to the gun on your hip and say “if you touch me I’m going to shoot you”?? one of her main points was that many rapes aren’t this hollywood ambush on a dark street or back alley, the vast majority of rapes in the US happen indoors and are usually done by someone the victim knows… guns don’t fix every problem AND she never advocates gun control – she is simply asking that people STOP blaming the victim and start looking at the root causes of rape!

  • I would love to know how many people here have actually listened to the entire interview. She NEVER advocates for any kind of gun control in the entire piece. Her point, which is very important, is that the attention needs to be on the perpetrator NOT the victim. This is just another variant of victim blaming (what were you wearing, why were you there at that time, what were you doing out at night alone, why didn’t you have a gun….) and the victim should NOT be made the quasi responsible party!!! When over 1 in 5 women in America get raped in their lifetime this isn’t an issue with deviant criminals it is a massive CULTURAL and SOCIETAL issue ‘rape culture’ that needs to be addressed which I believe is her very intelligent point. A society that advocates might makes right and that women are sexual objects instead valued primarily for their appearance is raising men to believe that rape is acceptable. The focal point should be on what is producing men to rape which in my opinion has a lot to do with patriarcy and capitalism and needs to be addressed! STOP the victim blaming and start looking at the root causes!!!
