This man did not rebuke, he insulted! Paul dealt with issues much more serious than this in his epistles and gave ministers a model to use: First he found a reason to be thankful for the group or individuals being addressed; second he extolled God’s grace and mercy –a change in attitude always starts with what God did for us because we were helpless to escape sin ourselves; then he moves to how we need to respond –not because we are worthless, not because we are screw ups, but because God loved us and went to extraordinary depths to save us. Repentance comes when we understand His holiness, mercy and grace. This man truly missed the mark and sounded far more like the pharisees that Jesus rebuked: Woe to you you Pharisees and Scribes. You travel over land and sea to win a single convert and when you do you make him twice as much a son of hell as you.

While I agree that Bill was over the top and trying to claim that Christianity isn’t a religion is ridiculous, walking past a Christmas tree or nativity scene is NOT being forced to celebrate or partake in the religious tenants of Christianity. If one believes that Jesus was just a man, then you are walking past remembrance of a man’s birth. The fact that a minority (and I am not including you in this) feel the need to not allow others the opportunity to express their beliefs is in itself troubling. Atheists are having their world view expressed by the State every time they remove any mention of God from the public square.
