What About Facebook’s New ‘Home’ Feature for Phones Is Concerning? It ‘Erodes Any Idea of Privacy’
April 5, 2013 at 1:35pm
There are apps for the android (some free) that allow you to edit the permissions that applications use. I went through my wifes tablet and restricted those that I did not think were needed. After all, does the baby nightlight app really need to know our location and network status as well as being able to turn on the microphone?
Sure most of the apps will stop working right if those are blocked, but that just makes it easier to decide to delete them. And you shouldn’t be saying I didn’t know because the Play Store makes you acknowledge what permissions the application uses.
As for FB, I left them almost 4 years ago and couldn’t care less.
Creationist’s Biblical Battle Call Sparks ‘Overwhelming’ Response From Evolutionists

I have always seen it as a literal 24 hours, or an equal period of day and night. An easy way to figure this is the simple face that after He created the trees, if they went without sunlight for 1000 years, they would die. I have no problem believing that a God who can do all things, can cram so much into a 24 hour period.

How Cigarettes Are Lit, an Escape Story, and Butter Used as Lotion: ‘Craziest’ Alleged Stories From Inside Prison
February 25, 2013 at 2:19pm
I believe most of the stuff here except the “escape” and the butter. Butter and condiments are not usually handed out and lotion usually is available. As for the medical problems, yup I can believe that. I have picked people up in prisons, had family experience, and talked to former inmates. I believe what they have said. In prison, you are a forth class citizen and don’t you forget it.

Sorry, but in some states felons can vote as long as they are released and not on parole. I happen to believe that if you are through with serving your time along with parole/probation, then all rights should be returned to you. The 2nd amendment does not stipulate for ex-felons. Even a habitual drunk driver will typically get their license back eventually.
smghvacr – have you thought about applying for a pardon? Also if you want home protection, look into a paintball gun with reballs (hard plastic resin .68cal ball for paintball target shooting) and pepper balls (paintball shell filled with pepper spray) At least then when society falls apart you have something until you can “scrounge” up a firearm as there being no government to enforce those laws…
Did Amazon Purposefully Ban a Conservative Fox News Personality’s Book?
January 16, 2013 at 3:03pm
I spend a pretty large chunk of my disposable shopping income on amazon. I have a membership which gets me free 2 day shipping. I laugh gleefully when they send me a bar of soap 2nd day air at their cost. I get diapers, wipes, car parts, books and other crap from them.
And I hate what they do with their profit! I hate how liberal they are. I wish their was a alternative to amazon, but it is like walmart. It really is the best place to shop sometimes, because they have literally everything.
I do want to say though that I have seen similar amazon actions on other books that have no right or left leanings (one was a sci-fi book) because their stock was damaged and people complained. So they put a temp freeze on the item to sort it out.
TheBlaze Radio Makes Exciting Announcement: Guess Who’s Joining the Team
January 9, 2013 at 10:56am
I think the linup is great, but I would rather see some other shows than the simulcast. There are already so many ways (and more coming) to watch the line-up. Maybe do a repeat of Wilkows radio show (if you can get it from siriusxm) and truthfully Hannity would be great as well with his show. BUT I doubt Hannity would allow that. I have no clue what is actually going on between them, but I have seen Beck talk nicely about him numerous times where Hannity will never even mention anything to do with Beck. TheBlaze has some exciting times ahead and I am glad to have been a subscriber for over a year now. But as much as I enjoy watching Glenn, it is hard to convince others that the network is worth a shot if they don’t care for him because they only know what the MSM have said about him. In order to be what the network can be, TheBlaze needs to focus on the news and not its 5pm timeslot. That being said, 5pm is the only show I watch just about everyday. Everything else is on a time available basis.
The new news shows sound like they will be great. It will be hard to watch it all in any given day though!
Streaming Box Roku Announces Cable Deal With Time Warner, Which Is Big News for You
January 7, 2013 at 11:54am
What I think the benefit is, is that you can stop paying the STB rental fee. I pay (comcrap) $10 a month for the living room plus 8 for the DVR service (wonder if this will do dvr services) and $2 for a simple standard def converter box for the bedroom. I used to be able to just plug the set into the wall, but now can’t do that.
Was Beck Right? Potential for A La Carte Cable TV Channels Picks Up Steam With Intel Unbundling Rumors
January 2, 2013 at 1:16pm
Yeah but hulu does not have (or at least did not when I looked at it) the shows I watch on Discovery, History or those my wife watches on Food Network. Honestly, the only thing holding me back from just going OTA and roku is sports. ESPN may say that you can watch their broadcast game anytime anywhere over espn3, but it is blacked out from live on the east coast.
