  • This article contains one glaring error that could have easily been checked and wasn’t. Brownells does not sell assembled guns; they sell gunsmithing supplies, gun parts, reloading supplies, etc.. A qualified person can assemble a functioning firearm from components purchased at Brownells but there are not large number of these guns built. Glenn says the Blaze goes to great lengths to insure that only the facts are published, I’m disappointed.

  • What is really damaging to the effort to find a solution to this problem is a bunch of people getting on TV in front of a large TV audience and talking about a subject they know nothing about. No matter how well meaning they are someone talking about “rapid fire clips”, “assault rifles” or “automatic weapons” does nothing but cloud the real issue with a bunch of emotional claptrap. These people should do some research before they open their mouths about a subject they are ignorant of.

  • One thing that has changed since I was a child (when we didn’t have these mass killings) is that people with serious mental health problems were locked up in Asylums. When you combine that change with widespread viewing of violence on TV, movies and video games and the decline of morals this is what we get. These things have all occurred as the country has become more liberal, so blame the liberals not the guns. Switzerland has more guns per person than we do; but they are also much more socially conservative, and they don’t have nearly the number of homicides we do.

  • No, you do that best by creating an atmosphere where ten people earn $100 to spend. Giving ten people $100 is the problem.

  • If a law was the answer to stopping something we would never have another rape, murder, robbery or driving over the speed limit. Laws are only guidelines that law abiding people tend to follow. I am mystified how supposedly intelligent people expect passing more laws to stop this problem. The Sikh Temple killings in Milwaukee proved that if you are intent on killing a bunch of people you can do it with gasoline; or as Oklahoma City showed you can do it with diesel and fertilizer. As long as people focus on more firearms restrictions to solve the problem, instead of addressing the real solutions, we will continue to have these atrocities.

A good first step in preventing these events is to look at something that works. Israel’s school children are at much higher risk for this type of thing but they train and arm volunteer school teachers so that they can defend the children.

  • Hey Bob, let’s ban the football to stop all the football injuries. For that matter why do we need any sport? Sports prey on the poor who spend money, that should go for food etc. on the latest Nike shoes, jerseys and other useless stuff. In fact we should ban your profession because it just promotes all of the evils caused by sports.

  • I grew up hunting in Oregon and no one hunts in the old growth forests because there are few animals there. The reason is that the old growth trees are so large that they preclude undergrowth which is essential for food production. The Spotted Owls like to nest in the edges of old growth timber stands because the old trees have reached the point where they have rotted spots where the owls can easily make nests. An owl cannot tell an old growth tree from a Kmart sign, it is simply a good place for a nest. I suspect that human manufactured nests like those provided for Wood Ducks would work just as well as old growth trees but then they would not fit the agenda of the extreme environmentalists (anti-humanity zealots) which is to return all land to it’s virgin condition.

  • Seer, great post you said it better than I did. Too bad there is no way to make most of these clowns experience what these guys are so that they might understand how it feels.

  • What a load. Take it from someone who has been there, these are young men who are in a situation where they have to summon the courage to get up each day and perform their mission. They develope a fatalistic attitude that doesn’t include concern for the political correctness of their actions. Anything that helps them go out and face danger everyday is valuable and flags and other symbols that flaunt the values of those they feel are not supporting them do this. As an old Marine I often wonder at the character of these young guys and the way they do their jobs even though they know that one perceived miss-step can set off an international incident.
