You are incorrect. The headline is not misleading at all-it is exactly what the Court held in that case. The Court’s holding is all that matters, the rest of the opinion is considered “dicta” and merely shows the Court’s reasoning behind its decision. Dicta is not binding. It is only “persuasive” as far as future Court decisions are concerned when dealing with the same issue.

Applying a two-step analysis the Court held that “Peterson’s Second Amendment claim fails at step one of our two-step analysis: the Second Amendment does not confer a right to carry concealed weapons.” That is exactly what the headline reads.

And how will any of these proposals solve the problem? It won’t. Nothing short of a complete ban and confiscation will stop another nut from taking firearms from a friend or family member, if the weapons are not properly secured at home. Lanza did not purchase his own firearms, he stole them from his mother. It is a pretty simple solution-if you have children or someone mentally ill in your home, LOCK UP YOUR DAMN FIREARMS.

According to Jarrett, despite what is portrayed on youtube.com, and elsewhere on the internet, as a video of her talking about Obama Green Jobs Czar Van Jones at the Netroots Nation Convention on August 12, 2009, she never actually said that she was delighted to have recruited him into the White House or that they have been watching him for as long as he’s been active in Oakland and all of the creative ideas that he has, or that they captured that, and have all of that energy and enthusiasm in the White House. According to Jarrett, these accusations are just another example of the pathetic attempts by radical, racist, white, anglo-saxon, heterosexual, christian, bible-toting, gun-loving, extremist elements of the right-wing, nut-job, uneducated, anti-intellectual, unwashed, tea party dominated Republican Party. Additionally, Jarrett pointed out that it has been the President’s focus on bringing people together and not engaging in the same type of hateful rhetoric used by the GOP. According to Jarrett, that video was taken out of context and if the original clip had been posted in it entirety, people would see this as a nothing more than a political hit piece by the GOP.

WAHSINGTON DC. The White House responded to allegations made in media reports earlier today by Van Jones that he is not a “911 Truther, and a felon and all this type of stuff,” as patently false. The White House refers the media to revisit media reports from on or about September 5, 2009, wherein it was widely and accurately reported that Van Jones, who at the time was serving as President Obama’s special adviser for green jobs to the White House Council on Environmental Quality, was summarily booted out of the White House following revelations that he is in fact a 911 Truther, a convicted felon, and radical Marxist/Leninist/Communist revolutionary hell bent on fundamentally transforming the country. The White House declined to comment on whether there was any similarity between Van Jones’ idea of “fundamentally transforming” our nation to those of the President’s. The White House responded to that inquiry by saying, “ I know you want to make this about the President, but this is nothing more than a talking point designed to distract from the President’s message of fundamentally transforming the country.” Unfortunately, amid some blank and confused stares across the briefing room, the White House Press Secretary slipped out of the room and was no longer available for comment.
