  • @ LOCKED

    “@Jamestown
β€œin the dictionary it is called MURDER.”
Correction. In the dictionary, murder is defined as illegal killing. Abortion in general is legal.”

So, it is called KILLING then. LEGAL killing. Got it.

  • Here’s the real point – to my way of thinking…

Glenn tells what he sees as the truth or “worthy of your attention”, Oreilly does his thing, the mainstream media does theirs, etc.

I make a real effort to read as many of the opposing viewpoints as possible, THEN I watch how different media outlets modify the facts that are knowable. The more modifying that goes on the more likely that something real is underneath – from what I’ve observed. And that applies to any particular point on the political spectrum.

Rash judgements and shouting down of differing viewpoints accomplishes one thing and one thing only – ensuring your own ignorance.

  • @Marine25

While I applaud your desire to keep the truth front and center, misrepresentation is not the way to do it.

The opposition is not to “stem cell research”, the opposition is to EMBRYONIC stem cell research. The difference being that EMBRYONIC stem cell research as seen as supporting abortion to the point of even financially justifying it by making abortion a profit center (via the sale of embryonic stem cells).

Please don’t promote ignorance by avoiding the distinction.

This misrepresentation is similar to that of “immigration”. Virtually no one is opposed to immigration. What conservatives (and most Republicans) oppose is ILLEGAL immigration – and the awarding of citizenship benefits to those ILLEGAL immigrants under the “immigration reform” bill(s).

If we all actually discuss these issues truthfully and honestly, we are much more likely to resolve them effectively.

  • In Oscar related news….Zero Dark Thirty – Jessica Chastain.

I find it funny that the movie the White House had Hollywood make starred an actress that spent almost an entire movie naked and having sex with just about anyone. See “Jolene” if you care.

IMPORTANT: Ronald E. Kolka replaced the previous Director on February 11th, 2013. He WAS the Chief Financial Officer. He’s a FINANCE guy people make him AWARE of the costs of NOT joining this fight!!

Conglomerates like Olin Corp. (OLN) and Alliant Techsystems (ATK, Fortune 500) also make ammo, primarily for the military

  • Dead right. If the President were meant to have carte blanche on Cabinet nominations there would be no confirmation process – PERIOD.

Deference applies only after 2 essential criteria are met. 1) competence and 2) an American viewpoint (call it Patriotism if you like but that isn’t quite the right word).

For instance, a competent person who is also an avowed Communist could not be confirmed.

Hagel appears to be incompetent based upon nothing more than his total lack of knowledge and preparation for the confirmation hearing.

  • Your point is well taken but, to be fair, bot the airlines and the airport authorities themselves resisted the implementation of the TSA.. The knew what would happen – what we got – and they argued it should be handled by the airports themselves. Several airports have threatened to kick the TSA out (some may have actually done so by now) but that has been swiftly countered by the FAA threatening to refuse any plane to land at that airport.

The Federal government is running this show and the airlines & airport authorities are largely being victimized by it.

Continued, vocal pressure by the traveling public to dump the TSA is the first step in improving air travel.

  • I think this is a move to be applauded – and expanded. All unions that donate heavily to liberal political causes should divest themselves of anything in their portfolio that is not also similarly liberal/progressive political in nature.

Then they’d not only be honest by “putting their money whee their mouth is” as the saying goes, but they’d be financially supporting what they believe in and not financially supporting what they don’t.

  • @naughtycal:

“Native Americans”? Really? America was named after Amerigo Vespucci – an Italian. The 500+ distinct cultures you are referring too predate Vespucci’s birth. You calling them “Native Americans” is kind of insulting , no?

Let’s take your sarcastic political correctness a bit further shall we? The largely European (but don’t forget the Chinese and others) who settled “America” and displaced the indiginous tribal nations, effectively wiped those cultures/nations out, then coralled them onto reservations that were largely unsuitable to their way of life.

Your ridiculous and naive, politically correct mentality says “let’s name these people – whom we decimated to the point of extinction, then shoved onto crappy land where they can barely sustain themselves – after ourselves!” You think that term is respectful – they think its adding insult to injury.

  • @JROOK

I would ask you to show me one case where “gun registration” has prevented so called gun violence.

What is the point of registration?

As to the talk of “taking your guns away” See Senator Dianne Feinstein http://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/assault-weapons-ban-summary Note:That means if you have a hand gun that that accepts a detachable magazine and has one other military characteristic, it is an assault weapon and it will be illegal to own under this proposed law. ALSO NOTE: That failure of current gun owners to meet NEW requirements (in the new registration/permitting process) for guns they already own… Guns they ALREADY OWN…would result in confiscation. You have to read the full text to find that.

See New York Governor Cuomo: http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/336373/cuomo-confiscation-could-be-option-eliana-johnson

See former Governor of West Virginia and now Senator Joe Manchin http://www.npr.org/2012/12/18/167563478/gun-advocate-sen-joe-manchin-calls-for-gun-law-changes-after-newtown

See Iowa, state Rep. Dan Muhlbauer http://dailycaller.com/2013/01/09/iowa-lawmaker-calls-for-retroactive-gun-bans-confiscations-of-semi-automatic-weapons/

There are many more Senators and Congressmen on local and federal levels calling for and submitting legislation that INCLUDES confiscation – - often retroactively.

So please, stow your sarcasm. At least 5 separate pieces of legislation have been submitted – 5, not just 1 – calli
