  Served on six carriers with CARDIV 4 & 18 and VF102 between ’63-’70. Also, got some back seat time carrying classified material in a couple of F4Js. Sitting in the back seat, you couldn’t see anything forward, so you saw the deck less than a second before hitting. I would have given just about anything to switch from my Globe Swift to that F4J.

  7 or 8 shot mag. In Nam, I double-tapped a VC attempting to shot my gunner, but he was going down with the first one. In Texas, when I had three daughters, I cracked open my bedroom door and saw a large man with a gun almost at the top of the stairs. Told him to drop the gun, but he attempted to point it at me. One shot in the chest and he was knocked back down the stairs. He was a little over 6′ and about 280 lbs. When I got to the top of the stairs, there another man under him. When he grabbed the first one’s gun and tried to point it at me. I fired one more round. Didn’t need another. Loved that .45. What do you need the 8 rounds for if you only need one – with the Colt .45, model 1911, that was all I needed for 3 guys trying to kill me or mine. BTW: turns out, the first guy at the top of the stairs was a convicted rapist.

  Thanks, Mr. Idoit. I get a 1.7% increase in Social Security, then they turn around and take all but $2.00 back for Medicare.

  Why don’t you give a raise to people WHO WORKED, not to civil servants who can’t even produce a budget, which is mandated by law, in almost four years. In fact, every Senator should have a 50% cut in pay for not doing the ONE major thing that they are required to do by LAW.

  Of course, you are the law professor, who can’t even follow the U.S. Constitution. You should be impeached, not sworn in for a 2nd term. We have some very stupid voters who only care about the money, goods, that they get from his administration.

  About 15 years ago, I heard a sound on my stairs – turned out to an armed convicted rapist and his mate. Two shots and my house was safe again. They came through a window that had a sign in it saying “Model 1911 user lives here.” Either they didn’t know what a model 1911 was, or was just plain stupid – since he turned his .22 towards me when I told him to drop it, I would vote for the latter. I don’t used the sign anymore, but still use the 1911s.

  I wonder – if the grandfathers in the poem had been a muslin or islam and the girl said that they had prayed to allah – would they have ordered allah to be removed?????

  And when are these “educators” going to actually read and UNDERSTAND the meaning of this phase of the U.S. Constitution?

  I put a spotlight at the top of my stairs which could be turned on from my bedroom (which was at the top of the stairs. My bedroom door was oiled and could be open enough that I could see all the way to the bottom of the stairs (with this light) without a sound. You flip on this light, which shows who is on the stairs, as well as temporary blind who is on the stairs. If you see a weapon, you fire. If it is a visitor to your house, such as grandkids or your kids, you can see them and not fire. Not foolproof, but better than just a light at the top of the stairs which blinds you as much as the intruder.

  I still say that it is better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. At least then you have a chance to live.

  Back when I was on a pistol team, I averaged 24 out of 25 at 75 feet. Now, 40 years later, I shoot for what is the biggest target. With a .45 ACP, a hit will down a human – and he will probably not get back up. Count to date: 2 rapists, 1 VC, and 1 robber who attempted to take my 18 yr old clerk after he got the money. He exposed his shoulder – he no longer has the arm!

  A convicted rapist (didn’t know this at the time) broke into my house and I put a slug in the idiot who tried to bring his .22 to bear on me when I had a .45 pointed in his direction not 10 feet above him on the stairs of my house. Both this guy, and his partner, whom I had not seen since he was behind him and smaller, flew to the floor below. The partner then attempted to pick up the gun and point it at me. He didn’t make. I pray for their souls (and the VC from when I was in Nam) everyday, and I sleep just fine.
