Knife-Wielding Home Intruder Meets Gun-Wielding Homeowner — It Didn’t End Well for One of Them
March 8, 2013 at 10:52am
This points up the inanity of “bringing a knife to a gunfight”. The problem is, some liberal lawmakers suggest that as a good policy!

The Rev. Fulbright probably does not want to come to Texas…just a hunch, but I think I am right about that.
California Police Chief: ‘A Gun Is Not a Defensive Weapon — That Is a Myth’
February 15, 2013 at 11:52am
Chief James doesn’t believe his own statement. He adds “They carry a gun to be able to do their job in a safe and effective manner and face any oppositions we may come upon.”
If facing opposition in a safe and effective manner is not a good working definition of defense, then the Chief needs to give his definition of defense.

Parents Upset Over Survey Asking High School Students If Their Families Owned Guns
February 8, 2013 at 6:09pm
And I am not particularly upset since the survey was given not by the school (but by students as part of a psych class project) and was anonymous and optional. This is a non-starter as a cause of concern.
Parents Upset Over Survey Asking High School Students If Their Families Owned Guns

Just by-the-way – I graduated from Arlington High School in Arlington, TX and it is in Tarrant County. I believe that Shelby County is in Tennessee.
Of course, I understand that everyone would naturally PREFER to be from Texas…
Could Republican Soldier Who Wanted to Put NYT Editors ‘Behind Bars’ Unseat Arkansas’ Senior Democratic Senator?
February 1, 2013 at 4:12pm
The 4th estate is not above the law. (Neither are the first three, for that matter.)
If they committed a crime, then behind bars is precisely where they belong.
No one is above the law.
Another Reason to Move to Texas: Gov. Perry Calls on Lawmakers to Return Unused Tax Revenue to Taxpayers
January 29, 2013 at 5:54pm
It should be noted that in “slashing $5.4 billion from public schools” Texas actually budget more money for public schools than in the immediately previous biennium. The slash was to the amount requested, not to the amount budgeted in the previous budget. Ditto for the $27 billion shortfall – it was all on paper & based on requests, anticipated requests, and extrapolation from previous budgets. There was never any need to borrow or write any hot checks.
Texas’ government has been fiscally responsible for a long time, and it shows in the current economic climate here.
