  First, the issue is not whether Mary was the “Mother of Jesus Christ”. The issue is whether she was the “Mother of GOD”. Jesus was both man and God. Protestants deny she was the Mother of GOD, despite the Gospel of Luke telling us she was. That’s why Osteen doesn’t use that term as the title for his movie.

  Second, Catholics don’t “worship” Mary, as you Protestants claim. We ask her the pray for us. If you can ask your spouse and family members to pray for you, why can’t you ask Mary to pray for you? After all scripture tells us that the prayers of the holy ones – the saints in heaven – are more fruitful.

  Third, the entire “Hail Mary” prayer is taken from the words of the bible. Protestants’ refusal to say it is just a refusal to recite scripture:

  Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
  “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!” Luke 1:28

  Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
  “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!” Luke 1:42

  Holy Mary, Mother of God,
  “And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” Luke 1:43

  Mary was the Mother of Christ, but she was also the Mother of God, a biblical truism Protestants have such a hard time seeing. As scripture tell us:

  “And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and she exclaimed with a loud cry, ‘Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted me, that the MOTHER OF MY LORD should come to me?’” (Luke 1:41-43).

  The irony is that Protestants, who claim to adhere to the bible, deny that Mary was the Mother of God, when the Holy Spirit, right there in the Gospel of Luke, tells us she was.

  Too bad Osteen is blinded by his Protestantism and doesn’t give the movie its due title, “Mary Mother of God” (cf. Luke 1:41-43).
