Bernanke Admits: Inflation Rising
April 28, 2011 at 6:13am
My husband is 100% medically disabled (after serving in the Corps and then the Army.) He is low functioning due to memory issues PTSD/TBI, and is unable to be left alone. Living on the fixed budget is very difficult for us with raising costs of essential items. Even, if he was able to overcome the symptoms of his PTSD/TBI he physically would be unable to work most employment. I am his caregivers and gave up a career and earning potentialto stay home and care for him. We have 4 children to raiseand it’s very difficult and challenging to provide for them on this fixed income. Many family members helpful suggest that I return to work. Or even better- my husband and I should have planned better and maybe chosen to have fewer children. I was shocked to learn many of our family members feel like we live off “the dole” for everything since we live solely off his disability benefits. Which my own mother pointed out comes 100% from the government and tax dollars. With no COLA and raising costs of food, gas and energy hitting upwards of 65% we both stress what is to come financially in the next 5 years. I hope everyday that my husband can regain his ability to care for himself, that I can return to the workforce, that my husband could shrug off the shame and depressionhe carries around being a grown man unable to care for himself or his children, that one day we may have the same quality of life which we at one point enjoyed. Until then we just pray and cope the best that we can. We try to heal our family. I hope that Veteran benefits change, improve and that the public’s attitude changes.

Scary, I thought parents making decisions for their children was called “parenting.”
