  • I agree!

  • Here is the problem with this statement, “Mitchell made it clear that she would fully accept any religious decisions that her child inevitably makes. Rather than prevent him from being faithful, she said that the decision is up to him.”

When you are telling a kid that something is a fairy tale you are not allowing them to “decide” for themselves. Instead you are setting them up for a closed mindset not the open mindset that athiests always speak of. If she truely believed in people making thier own minds up about this from birth she would say nothing and truely allow him to find his own spiritual way, not post hatefull anti-religous opinion. YES, hatefull. She is calling another persons views non logical, unfair or unjust. That is beyond an opinion that is malicious!

  • For the parent that initially complained and then says that they are going to take their kid anyway. The reason being that they do not want their child to feel left out, I feel for you. As parents we all have to learn that parenting is to do the right thing no matter what anyone thinks, and you raise your children to do the same.
That is one of the messages of Christ’s story. He always did what was right without taking a poll first. I am often mystified at the extreme reaction to him especially at Christmas. If you are an atheist and are raising your children to decide for themselves. Let them decide for themselves what they believe in but show by example to do what you think is right. I am a Christian and would not hesitate to not send my child to something that I objected to. Therefore I reject the premise of this complaint. I think it is scripted like the atheist lifestyle-make it up as you go.

  • The only thing “dumbed down” is the parents of these kids. Can you not draw the parellel between Hitler youth and what your asking these kids to participate in? Next you will be asking them to turn your neighbors in for leaving their porch light on all night and wasting energy!

  • I heard a wonderful word the other day. A man being interviewed on the radio said that when you replace what the word says with what you would like it to say you are whorshiping the idol of “self”. I had never heard it put that way, but it is rang really true to me.

It is not God’s job to bend to our desires, it is our job to bend to his. I have never experienced an instance where I was not better for it. This is a clear example of this guy wanting God to change what he has said to fit the world as he wants . He is worshiping himself.

  • The cynicism that so many of you write with regarding this article is over the top. Stop just for a moment and ask yourself could this just be an example of “all things working for your good”. That no “weapon formed against you” truth. Hopefully the money that she has set aside will also go to helping the bullies themselves. Wouldn’t that be the ultimate irony that only God himself could coordinate?

  • You know what I think is moronic? Being a grown woman and thinking that it is post worthy that we know when your bedtime is. another is swearing at people when they don’t agree with you. Because everyone always looks smarter when they use the F word.

  • Listen….if it where called the “Book of Jay” then he could decide which parts are real and which parts are interpretational. But its called the Bible and there comes a point in every Christians walk where they have to make a decision. Is Jesus who he says he is or am I making him into something else? Some watered down version of who he says he is. Salvation lives in the full story and the cool part is that he left it up to us whether we want to take it or not. Twenty years into my walk with the Lord I can no longer deny any part of him. He has proven himself to me to many times for me to not at least give him that courtesy.
