The dress is lovely and for todays standards, it is modest. The problem is not the dress, the problem is that this student knew that the dress code for her school included 2 inch straps not 1/2 inch which her dress was. She knew the rules and chose to break them. Now she is upset with the consequences of her actions. I find it interesting that most of the commenters here condemned the school and not the rule breaker. If she didn’t like the rules then try to change them before hand. If not then go to a different school. Don’t complain about the consequences of your choice.
I think she is upset, (from what I've read of her statements) because there were several others wearing short dresses & dresses a lot more revealing than hers, and she was the only one asked to cover herself.
There were several rule breakers, & she had to be there watching them get away with it.
I can understand. Been there. Got in trouble for wearing a jacket in class, just me & not the seven other kids wearing jackets. Nothing wrong with the jacket either, just a dicwad teacher.
yeah, she’s a true rebel, and obviously out of control !
can you imagine the gall of this young floozy!
she KNOWS the shoulder strap is supposed to be 2 inches, but her modest dress’s shoulder strap was slightly under 2 inches!!!
i’m glad that the administrators didn’t use their logic and decide that the intent of the rules (which was to prevent immodest dresses from being worn) was of no import. I’m glad they made the decision to enforce the letter of the rules, now matter how illogical.
after all, as adults, we can’t tell the other children who say “why did you bend the rules for her?” think that we are allowed to look at rules and adjust them based on reason and intent. No, we must always follow rules exactly, or that wouldn’t be “fair”.
…and after all, being fair is more important than being reasoned.
thank goodness these administrators made her wear a coat to her prom. clearly it was the right thing to do.
how dare this young lady question the intelligence of the rule-enforcers! children, especially those approaching adulthood, must not EVER question the rules of adults. They must just meekly sit by, do as they are told, and blindly follow the example of those adults who understand that rule-following, exactly as they are written, without allowing intellect to enter into the decision process is the correct way to go
and question an adults rule? no, never, not to be allowed!!!
clearly, she is an out of control, young lady, I’m glad they made an example out of her and her wonton rule-flaunting!
You can tell she's wearing 1" straps? Not the way I see it, but I'll take a closer look.

This appears to be a CHARTER school, which, I believe, is a type of private school. The parents have every right to express their dissatisfaction with the new “hall” décor and request something more appropriate. Perhaps allowing parents to “vote” on who to represent in the paintings.

Please include Washington state in this clean up. I asked at the King county election board if they cleaned the rolls since I know several people who have moved out of state. They said that they did not. It’s all mail in ballot – and in one election a “lost” ballot box suddenly turned up after 2 recounts that allowed an election result to be overturned and a Democrat to be governor.

The problem is that a major electrical failure would shut down the auto pilot but probably not communication. Why did the pilot NOT communicate to anyone after the “good night” message. Why did the plane apparently ascend to 45,000 feet and then descend to 23,000 feet. At 45,000 everyone on board without an oxygen mask would die. What is the altitude at which a plane is not picked up on radar? The biggest problem I see is lack of communication from the cockpit. If any kind of trouble occurred then a MAY DAY would have been used, not a total black out of communication one by one. This appears to be a human created catastrophe.

There is only one answer to this question— the baby does NOT belong to the mother. It can’t. She is type O which means the baby, if hers, has to be half O. The baby can be A, B or O but not AB.

As well as this describes the current POTUS, it can also describe many in the Congress, especially the Senate. We need term limits for congress as well as the POTUS.

She is right at least when it comes to her own race “not according the same value” – just look at the number of abortions that are from black women.

I doubt Mr. Beck posted this article. It may be his News network but I doubt he had much to do with this. Maybe he should have?

That child is definately NOT a newborn. As a L&D nurse with over 30 years experience, I have never seen an infant almost sit up and reach up to the mother’s face. Why did they make this? So someone would pay for it, put it on as real and then made a fool of. Waste of money.

It is very interesting that a “Christian College” does not remember that Jesus was highly controversial in his time, He challenged the “status-quo” and he told those who followed Him that they were “not of this world” and would be hated. They must not know that Christ “loved” the people and showed them how they were to live their lives – including not following the hypocrites.
He never called Caesar a marxist tyrant and incited rage against the ruling powers. He never said to rise up against the machine and overthrow anyone. Does anyone read the Bible anymore? He was so "controversial" because He is God. He taught peace and forgiveness not going around calling people libtards.
Not to take sides, but the argument is that "YAF uses divisive language and embraces some forms of political activism that do not align with who we are as a university."
Being a private college, shouldn't they have the right to make that decision?

Here’s the cure for all the “easy rape” cases. Men, keep your zipper up until you are married and then only let it down for your WIFE. Cured!
Isn't that the point to the statement he is being crucified for?
Children in their teens dont always think clearly boys or girls
and often do or say things that they regret later whether its
having sex because it's the "thing to do" or "every one is"
or lying to get out of trouble kids often don't think of the consequences
of their word or actions.

Hey WSheep, Romney knows why the constitution was written and he’ll be the first president to protect it since Reagan. He is more like George Washington than any other President we’ve had and he’ll do what is right for the country and the constitution. He knows the constitution was inspired by God and only a God-fearing people can utilize it without destruction. Johnson/Paul (the legalize drugs crowd) are only nit-pickin’ and delusional – just like those who would vote for them.

Just Angry and Just Idiotic, Romney is NOTHING like Obama. Romney’s policies could help save this great nation. Obama is appears to want the destruction of this nation.

Thank you KayDeeB for the website address on “healthcare in MA”. I knew this information but the writer put it very nicely. It really proves that Romney is a leader for ALL of AMERICANS. We need him now more than ever.

@phillyatheist & jrook — since you both seem to be unable to see what is in front of your noses. Please let me explain how and why many of us average American individuals are both angry and afraid of our current POTUS. First, since “birds of a feather, flock together” otherwise known as people tend to gravitate toward those who are like them and Obama has publicly stated that he has “sought out Marxist professors” and other fringe groups types, he is admitting to being of that disposition. Second his background is has “mentors” as well as his own flesh and blood who are known communists. Third, he has surrounded himself with communist sympathizers in his cabinet positions, etc. Fourth, he uses old communist terminology in his campaign and expresses the ideals of the communist manifesto, such as collectivism. Looking at history, communism after socialism has failed where-ever it has been tried and unfortunately it has been a bloody history that goes along with each try. That is why many individuals are concerned, or just plain “scared”. Perhaps you are too young to remember, or more likely you are both products of today’s so called “higher education”. You certainly don’t seem to have any objective thinking.

So Gilbert, you must be a Ron Paul supporter, since some Mormons that I know just love Mr. Paul and believe many of the negative info that he has put on his website. Romney is not perfect but he is immensely better than the current POTUS. Hope you can get on board.

Well, Dudley, you obviously have not read the books you mentioned because they all witness that the Bible is true. Don’t you believe in the Bible?
