White House Responds to All of Those Secession Petitions: There’s No Right to Secede
January 13, 2013 at 9:37am
The federal government doesn’t have to “grant” the right to secede. The states in their sovereignty constituted the federal government and deputed to it the power to administer some few functions–very few–as enumerated: interstate matters like coinage and free trade, and foreign affairs like diplomacy and defense. Just read the Constitution. It sets up a federation, like the European Union. Any constituent state entered the Union by vote of a convention of its voters, and–a basic principle of law–any agency that does something has the power to undo it. A convention of the voters of any state is all that’s required to take a state out of the Union. That’s the law, the expression of the fundamental principle That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of its ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it. People who want their state to secede need to call for a convention to do so. By the way, the state’s government has nothing to say about it, as the state’s government is likewise subject to a convention of the voters. Sovereignty resides here in the people of each state.
Glenn Beck’s Dream of Building an Entire City-Theme Park Hybrid Called ‘Independence, USA’ Will Blow Your Mind

Because even an atheist can hit on some good ideas now and again. Yes, look to the ideas, not to the person. Benjamin Franklin was no paragon of virtue, you know. Just to take one example. Yikes.

Could Texas Really Secede From The Union? The Answer Is…
December 8, 2012 at 7:05am
This whole presentation points to the fundamental problem: Americans do not know our own fundamental law. ALL of the states are, and of right ought to be, free and independent states; each was recognized as a free and independent state by Britain in the Treaty of Paris, by France, by other important states. They are STATES: juristically parallel to the state of France, the state of Spain. Our federal government is not a complete government; it is not sovereign; it does not have full sovereign powers. It is juristically parallel to the European Union: another federation of free and independent states. As Alexander Hamilton put it: “Necessity This does not apply to Fœderal Government–This may dissolve & yet the order of the community continue–Anarchy not a necessary consequence” — because we have fifty state governments, fully sovereign, already. You must understand that, or we’re not going to get anywhere.
Catholic Bible Gets an Update: U.S. Bishops Remove ‘Booty’ & ‘Virgin’
March 3, 2011 at 1:44pm
America’s bishops are in full and flagrant schism–have been for more than a century. Where do you think all of the child abuse comes from, and the fact that they haven’t bothered to fulfill their vow to teach any more than to observe their vow to live chastely? And now flaunting their heresy besides. God help us–God rid of us these hypcrites. They obviously signed up with every possible mental reservation and a determination to ignore their vows: their ordinations, beyond question, are not valid in the first place.
