  • The traditional classroom model does not work under the Federal requirements (per the ADA as it applies to Education). Students and teachers, particularly in collaborative classes, are being told that they must provide individualized, self-paced learning yet still achieve objective content standards on a strict chronological basis. Changing to this type of instruction/learning is one answer and the technology is there to do it. I have worked in classrooms with 24 students and 6 adults (SpEd teachers, gen ed teachers, aides) that were nothing more than chaotic “zoos’ where learning just didn’t happen. Schools like Carpe Diem are the model for positive change in our failing public schools. Teaching and learning must go together and student responsibility must be stressed, as in this system of “flipped” learning.

  • I find it both pathetic and ironic that the call for “respect” between cultures is always one-way in the Islamic world. WE must RESPECT them, but our culture is to be vilified, derided and even physically attacked. Sounds much more like school yard bullies than heads of state!

  • Why is anyone surprised at what this arrogant ideologue and his cohorts do? BHO despises this nation and all it stands for – what better way for him to show that than to deface and degrade our flag?

  • It is my understanding that Islam explicitly forbids “modernization” or “reform” by its teachings that Muhammed is the last Prophet. No other interpretation or “enlightenment” regarding the will and dictates of Allah are deemed possible, thus Islam as it is “written” must remain sacrosanct. Anyone who questions this is deemed to be “apostate” and to deserve death. I have no desire to denigrate anyone’s spiritual belief system, but I cannot espouse using the name of God (whatever name you choose to use!) to justify and encourage murder and violence against those whose faith differs from yours. I am not a pacifist, but neither am I insane enough to say, let alone believe, that God would “tell” me to kill someone who worships or prays differently from me!

  • Apologies are only useful if the behavior improves – I have long known that Progressives have never actually matured beyond middle-school level in their manners and ideology, so “I’m sorry” doesn’t mean very much. Should I see any increased level of maturity from such as this columnist, I might be more inclined to believe that his appology is sincere. When your only recourse in debate and/or discussion is playground name-calling, it is difficult to treat you as an adult.

  • The double standard of CNN is always obvious: Kiss the ring ( or the nearest available body part!) of any Dem and do not permit a conservative to do more than answer leading questions (like “Have you stopped beating your wife?) with a yes or no. This is not journalism – it is political hackery!

  • McCain is and always has been a RINO – he is a Progressive and his vaunted voting record shows it. As for the Hobbit analogy, I can think of worse things to be called – after all, it only took two Hobbits to defeat Sauron! Just call me Frodo!!

  • As much as I value freedom of speech, I despise the Westboro Baptist group and their sick intrusion upon grieving families. I believe this law is the best compromise between a cherished freedom and the emotional cruelty practiced by Westboro Baptist protesters. I congratulate AZ on its expeditious and measured response.

  • Those who advise “exploitation” of any crisis that creates pain and misery for anyone have no interest in anything but power – leadership is not about control and force, it is the result of character and integrity setting an example to follow.

Knee-jerk absurdity strikes again!! When are these fools going to realize that PEOPLE kill people and will use whatever means they can find to do so! The ridiculous assumption that a concealed carry permit holder is automatically a danger to an elected official strikes me as extreme paranoia – is this Congressman that scared of his constituents???
