Right, next target is Social Security. You’re not planning to take that handout are you?

Speaking of sheep…If you want to know the actual numbers, check out this OECD data (Org of Econ Dev Countries). OPr,

Bottom line: the claim of four times higher crime rate is bogus.

In 2011, out of 6 categories of crime, the US has higher rates (per 100,000 of population) for Homicide, Rape and vehicle theft. UK had higher rates for robbery, assault, and burglary. In three of the categories ( two where UK had a higher rate), the difference between US/UK was not large (less than 10%). For burglary, UK rate was 20% higher that US. However, for homicide the US rate was 500% larger than the UK rate. Yeah, 5 x bigger.

The closest the crime rates came to the “4 times worse” ratio was in 2004 when the UK had the highest rate in Europe. At that time, their crime was 2.5 times greater than crime in the US. Not 4x.

Now, since guns make us safer, and the US has literally millions of guns, why is the murder rate 5 times higher in our “polite” country? Because the wrong people can get guns, IMHO. Why does that happen? Because politicians are afraid to enact universal Background Checks. Why? Because they are afraid of the gun lobby. You know, the lobby that believes literally anyone should be able to buy a gun BECAUSE it any nut gets a gun the lobby can use their guns to protect themselves. Except that dead marine sniper

Can’t speak for K’ton, but…saying the NO liberal wants to confiscate guns is just about as accurate as saying only criminals commit crimes.
The original charter of the Brady Campaign did include an objective to eliminate handguns. However, since the 2007 Heller vs DC case, (which established an “indivdual right”) that cannot happen unless our constitution is amended, ( A VERY heavy lift, google it to see). So, no one is coming to get all your guns.
Regarding my other point, check the FBI database to see what percentage of crimes are committed by people who had no previous record. It may surprise you. Bottom line, if we are going to get through this crisis, we need to be well informed of the laws and allow our democratic process to work when new laws are proposed. That DOESN’T mean threaten murder if you don’t get your way.
A previous posted claimed his (?) group to be invincible given the sheer number of firearms they possessed vis a vis China/India. Blah, blah. Our Marines and soldiers are, arguably, the best fighting forces in the world. When they go into battle they normally carry only two weapons, rifle and sidearm. So, my money is on the marine/soldier rather than the “lightly trained” wannabe who is proud to own more weapons than he can carry. Unless, of course, you are holed up in your survival bunker. In which case, all it takes is one Hellfire. Ask the Afgans…

During the Nixon years, when Vietnam protests were tearing the country apart, a popular slogan evolved from the anti-intellectual, silent majority. “If your heart is not in America, get your ### out.”

They viewed themselves as patriots, intent upon defending the US and its institutions. If those guys (my late father among them) were here TODAY, I wonder what they would say to those who NOW threaten to murder elected officials, attack law enforcement personnel and believe our government (Dems and Rep)s is our real enemy. Those points were the doctrine of the Weather Underground of the 60′s.

The real enemy is stupidity. That enemy insists that politicians adopt uncompromising positions which destroy any chance to actually govern the nation. Those who accuse our government of being Nazis are also demanding an end to negotiation and compromise as governing principles. Now thats stupid. Hitler, Goring, and Goebels weren’t big negotiators either.

People who are actually linked to the Third Reich are known as Aryan Nation, KKK, Skin Heads. Haven’t seen any photos of those dudes in Congress, Supreme Court, or Executive branches. Ironically, those guys do tend to have a lot of guns. Paradox, eh?

Lets see…sounds like advocating murder of an elected official. Remember Glen Beck’s experiences when he said something similar? …and people wonder why liberals use the phrase “gun nuts”.

mad engineer, Huh? Can’t really follow your point. “play nice”??

Ever read the Supreme Court decision, Heller vs D.C. ? It is the most important ruling on the 2nd amendment ever. You will, undoubtably, be surprised to learn that an “individual’s right to own weapons is upheld”.. Translation: no one is coming for your guns unless they amend the constitution first (not bloody likely!). You need to read more widely, dude.

Actually, Kelly bought the guns and photographed himself at the gun store. He later (Mar 8) posted it to his Facebook page. Not like he was trying to hide something. Guess where the Beitbart trolls found the story? From his Facebook page! Not intended to be terribly stealthy. No matter, Breitbart was able to manufacture a scandal. Can’t comment on the logic of buying an AR15 to test the BC system. No one is perfect.

Don’t lose heart. Speak the truth, again and again. Edmund Burke said all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Do not allow evil to triumph. Do not do sit by and do nothing.

Con’t lose heart, do what you can to preserve the Union using our constitution. Edmund Burke said all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Do not allow evil to triumph. Do not do sit by and do nothing. Speak up! Again! Again!

Wow, really?? A new low for the The Blz, which already operates at the nadir of pseudo-journalism..
The only person who mentioned a ban was the lying reporter. You kind of left that out..

Your last paragraph, a pathetic disclaimer, should have been the lead para. so your readers would realize the dishonestly employed by the reporter.
    To wit:
“It should be noted that Mattera used a number of misleading tactics in speaking with Schakowsky…. These measures were seemingly used to gain her trust and to make a foray into the conversation. We should also note the video is edited (gee… I wonder why, truth didn’t support story line?)”

“Since its inception, TheBlaze has maintained that reporters — especially conservative ones — should not rely upon these mechanisms for retrieving information, as they are misleading tools that do not allow for an ethical and robust pursuit for truth. That said, we do feel a responsibility to report on controversial comments made by public figures.”

“That said,…” Blz disavow any lies in the reporting in order to provide a misleading, salacious, and nearly totally false account of a reporters “ambush”.

Fact: Heller vs D.C, settled the right of an individual to own weapons. Read all about it, Scalia wrote the opinion (in 2007!). The congresswoman’s reasonable preference for background checks is shared by 70% of Americans, including a majority of gun owners. A handgun ban would require an amendment to the constituti
