Obama Puts Another Twist on His Upcoming Presidential Oath (This One Involves the Bible)
January 10, 2013 at 12:02pm
Obama swearing to uphold the Constitution on Lincoln’s Bible is perfect since Lincoln also appeared to do everything he could to rip up the Constitution: impose crippling tariffs and taxes, start an illegal war against peacefully seceding, sovereign States, draft folks into his war for cannon fodder, imprison dissenting journalists and deport slaves to poverty-ridden Haiti and Liberia – all for starters. Obama and Lincoln are cut from the same tyrannical cloth.
Should This Woman Lose Her Job for Flipping Off the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (And Then Posting a Pic of It)?

Your comment holds much pretense, as I did not in any way say that actions evade any consequences. However, I do seriously question those who are quick to use force against those whose actions they simply disagree with. I would assume that respecting your own rights would including respecting the rights of others. I wrote about this specifically in regards to the Rush Limbaugh/Sandra Fluke case: http://thelibertypages.blogspot.com/2012/03/use-protection-first-amendment.html
The big picture in this story is: What grounds for dismissal permissible? Anything? I think not; people would be up in arms and ready to file lawsuits against those who fire people for religious or political beliefs. The terms of employment should be relegated to one’s performance in the workplace. Committing a crime outside the workplace would probably impact one’s employment however but I see no crime committed in this case. The woman in question was hired to do a job, by all accounts her actions at the Tomb do not reflect upon her ability to carry out her workplace duties. If she were flipping off fellow employees from day-to-day, the case would be entirely different.

The freedom of speech ensures the protection of not only speech in which everyone agrees with but also speech that others find provocative or downright offensive as well. Ending someone’s employment for merely flipping off a respected monument is no more permissible than firing someone for telling a joke of poor taste or displaying religious symbols.
Van Jones’ Solution for the Fiscal Cliff? ‘Take The Money’ from Defense Industry & Big Oil
November 20, 2012 at 2:24pm
Military spending must be cut – foreign aid to all countries must end and the troops have to come home from just about everywhere – if the federal government is ever to be limited. Of course, Jones isn’t talking about actually cutting the military, he just wants to shrink it down to Clinton-era levels where, some might remember, Clinton was able to further screw up Bosnia and kill 500,000 Iraqi children with his interventionist foreign policy.
Happy ‘Violence, Disease, & Land Theft’ Thanksgiving? This MSNBC Anchor Thinks So

Oops. “Inoculated” is the wrong word – “immune” is what I should have said.

Stealing land is one thing – disease is another, as if the Europeans deliberately tried to kill the Native Americans with the sniffles! It’s what happens when a naturally inoculated society comes in contact with a new disease: it was a deadly accident.
But, although frequent conflicts erupted, the pilgrims and native americans were indeed helpful to one another on a consistent basis. I find it funny that Harris-Perry takes issue with the watered-down sunday school account of the early pilgrims only to replace it with her own watered-down evil-white-man account. Historical events are rarely simple black-and-white accounts.
‘F**k ‘Em,’ ‘Just Kill Yourself’: Kim Kardashian & Jon Lovitz Face Backlash, Death Wishes for Defending Israel

So much for the sentimental, anti-war Left. It is indeed “very sad [that] people are getting killed in the Israeli-Hamas conflict” and I’m not sure how anyone can say anything different about their fellow man.

Spending on technology for national defense is always better than spending on technology for interventionism abroad.
Pastor Mark Driscoll Issues Dire ‘Twilight’ Warning to Christians: It’s ‘Sick, Twisted, Evil, Dangerous’ — Do You Agree? (Poll)
November 20, 2012 at 10:35am
Of course ‘Twilight’ is dangerous – to one’s taste in film. It’s utter garbage; watch anything from the Coen Brothers, Hitchcock or Huston instead.
