My immediate family is LCMS. I have relatives in several denominations. A couple are agnostic. Family gatherings are….interesting, at times. Surprisingly, discussions regarding religion do not end up in heated debates. The occasionally snarky comment, in jest of course.

The song is “Con te Partiro” sung by Andrea Bocelli. A lot of us are more familiar with the title “Time to Say Goodbye” (Sarah Brightman). Written by Satori & Qurantotto.

She has a great voice for opera. She sang O Mio
Babbino Caro. It’s an aria from Puccini’s opera La Boheme. The character Mimi sings it to her
father. When she was walking on stage The Flower Duet was playing. She’s a soprano, mezzo maybe.
My daughter is a vocalist, sings opera beautifully.

You’re only as good as on the day. Wasn’t the horse’s day. Ive heard it’s extremely physically demanding to come off the Preakness and go race the Belmont. Could it be that’s why these three races are considered “the test” in Thoroughbred racing. Won 2 out of 3, still not bad. I would consider that pretty darn good.

OK, hate to be a kill joy, but…we (humans) have a tendency to anthropomize (interpreting human traits in animals). I think we do this because of our kind hearts and we want to see that in animals we admire/love. I have a box turtle, fits in the palm of my hand. She’ll follow/recognize me because she sees me as her food source. Not because of affection. But, I still think it’s cute. I know that if she were large enough she would try to eat us. I absolutely love animals. But, I’ll give them their dignity and not put our emotional baggage on them. LOL
Agreed. There's no doubt in my mind that if I were mouse-sized, my cat's prey drive would most likely be triggered and I would be eaten.
My cat used to stalk the neighbor's chihuahua when it was just a tiny puppy, and I had to stop him because he most likely would have tried to hunt and kill it. Now that it's bigger and doesn't set off his instinct to kill, they get along.
Lima, you're right about the turtle. They don't have the intelligence level to do much more. I have a snake...same thing. It recognizes the family, it does that because we feed it...that's all a snake is capable of- it's the nature of snakes. You notice neither snakes or turtles play.
But all animals are not snakes or turtles. Each kind has its own intelligence level and way to interact in and interpret the world. Like you said I also don't want to put our emotional baggage on them. For instance those that treat dogs like human children...arrgghhh. That can and does does make them neurotic. That doesn't mean they don't have emotion or intelligence or that they should be treated less fairly and kindly or welcomed into our homes and lives...it just means that they are different than humans and need to be respected and loved and worked with as who they actually are rather than trying to change them into something they are not. One of the reasons I love dogs is that they are NOT human and don't look at the world in a human way. A different perspective on a situation is always a good thing.

Hmmm…sounds like the angry InfoWars people posting again.
Although I will say, this whole situation is one big hot mess.
I would bet the make you still get a DNR sticker, They are not going to give up that 35 bucks, but the agents are'nt going to hear you as much............but just buy the stupid sticker. It sucks when you or a fellow rider in your group gets that fine...or worse.

I’ve never had an aggressive cat as a pet. But I’ve worked in the pet/veterinary industry my whole working career. I’ve come across aggressive cats that I couldn’t handle only very rarely. There have been a couple that were pretty scary. My sister had a cat like that. If you left her alone she would leave you alone.
The dog probaby had a scuffle with the cat at one point, playing too rough with them or getting too close if the cat is fearful. Our dogs and cats always got along fine. In fact, we had a siamese cat that preferred the company of dogs…he didn’t really didn’t like other cats.

No I wouldn’t say The General was the funniest movie ever made. You’re entitled to your opinion.
Right, "The General" is one of the funniest movies ever made. Those old movies were a lot more truthful and pro-American than today's movies. Birth of a Nation, Gone With the Wind, even Santa Fe Trail with Ronald Reagan, Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland (one of my favorites) showed more of the truth about the South and slavery than the radical, racist, pro-abolitionist trash they're putting out today.

In southern California the police/highway patrol will shut you down if you hang protest signs on overpasses. In some cases very quickly. Doesn’t really matter what you’re protesting, they will stop you if they catch you.

Ahh, pay attention to the game. Might be a good idea to know who has the ball…since, you know, you’re on base.

Did this happen to anyone else…she was spinning counter clockwise at first, say 20 seconds. I was focusing on her upper body. Then I focused on her feet…the spinning turned clockwise. Huh?
