While I do not know the family, my sister and several friends were professionally associated with Dr. Hatch, liked him and respected his work with his patients. My heart bleeds and my prayers go out to Austin for a speedy and complete recovery and mental healing.
However, I also have first-hand information of the salvage and investigation of the first crash. Pilot error and poor judgement were found to be responsible for the crash in ’03, and this crash was incredibly similar. An earlier post named the Bonanza “doctor killers” which is true (however, the first Bonanza was a straight tail – not sure what the second one was), but it seems that, at times, the traits that make good and competent doctors may make arrogant and over-confident pilots.

No. not bad form to be a “Grammar Nazi”. I agree – it is sad and frustrating to see newspaper ads and graphically beautiful billboards with misspellings and poor grammar. It may seem trivial to some, but disregard for order and correctness in simple things, leads to disregard for correctness and honesty in bigger and bigger things.

You really have to be amazed that they don’t realize how they sound…? Sometimes I just keep waiting for them to explain or elaborate on a stupid comment, like maybe, they didn’t mean for it to come out as stupid as it sounded?
… but it never happens…
I guess I try to give them the benefit of the doubt on intelligence….
