  What’s with the misleading headline? This “consenting” student was underage. That’s statutory rape any way you slice it. Homosexuals seem to think laws don’t apply to them, unless they want them to (e.g. marriage laws).

  Exactly — and in this case, she outed herself as not respecting Catholic teaching about what constitutes marriage by listing her partner as her spouse in her mother’s obituary.

The redefinition of marriage puts ‘who I have sex with’ not ‘who I have kids with’ at the center of marriage, changing marriage from a vital social institution to an unnecessary personal contract. The state has no compelling interest to recognize the mutual affection of adults. The state interest in the legal recognition of marriage has always been the acknowledgement of the uniqueness of the union of one man and one woman. Children born of such a union must be protected and the connection to their parents must be preserved. Is it any wonder that leftists who believe that your children belong to the state are in favor of homosexual marriage?
