  • With regard to the attempt on President Reagan the facts do not support this claim. There was nothing in his background that would have triggered him being denied as a prohibited possessor at the time he purchased the weapon used. There was a failure on the part of the Secret Service and FBI to put two and two together six months earlier when Hinckley was arrested at a TN airport with three weapons on the same day that then President Carter was in TN. He was released on a $62.50 bond and failed to appear to answer for the charges, and neither the Secret Service or the FBI followed up on the case. Check this link “http://www.murfreesboropost.com/hinckley-stalked-carter-in-tennessee-cms-29647″. One problem with background checks is that courts will plea bargain felony criminal, even gun charges, down to misdemeanors to save the courts time and money at the cost of Public Safety. Gun laws do not work because Criminals, by definition, do not obey the law, only the “law abiding” citizens do. All we need to do is to truly enforce the gun laws that are in place now and not gut them with plea deals to save money at the cost of lives. Any time that a criminal uses a gun to kill or injure someone it is always tragic, but there is a cost to freedom. It is no different than the costs in lives caused by someone being able to deal drugs to our children because Law Enforcement is obligated, righfully so, to respect the rights of the dealer with regard to due process and search and seizu

  • It happened, Maher finally said something that was right. “I think those 200 dead Mexicans would be dead even if we hadn’t sold them guns (Is this also a confirmation that Holder’s Justice Department knowingly provided them guns?). “They would have gotten the guns somewhere else. ” This is the right part, just as supporters of the Second Amendment have been saying, we are not the reason for Mexico’s violence. They can and do recieve the majority of the guns used in violence from sources other than the United States.

  • I believe the New Black Panters need to look at the facts. These are two studies from the US Justice Department,

“Data indicate that murder is most often intra-racial among victims and offenders. In 1997, data based on incidents involving one victim and one offender show that 94 percent of the black murder victims were slain by black offenders, and 85 percent of white murder victims were killed by white offenders.”

“In 2005 black homicide victims tended to be younger than white victims with about half being between the ages of 17 and 29, compared to about 37 percent of white victims. About half of homicides against blacks occurred in cities with a population of at least 250,000 people. Among single victim-single offender homicides, about 93 percent of black victims were murdered by black offenders.”

So now, who is responsible for the death of young blacks in this country?

  • “Lopez argues that the detainees have not been formally charged with a crime as they are awaiting a hearing where a judge will determine whether or not they will be deported.” Hmmmm, let’s see they are waiting for a judge to determine deportation. How about we don’t wait for a judge? They are illegals and can’t prove they belong in this country then let us just IMMEDIATELY ship them back across the border. Problem solved!

  • With regard to, “I remember being in Iowa in Cedar Rapids and Mitt Romney telling the audience (that) people like me should get in the back of the line,” the journalist said. “Where is the line? If they can tell us where it is, if it’s in Times Square somewhere, I’ll go there right now. There is no line, there is no process”. There is a line. It starts with the illegals returning to there respective countries of origin and applying to US Immigration to enter the country legally. The line exists now and always has.

  • Once again she defines class, and the fact that she ain’t it.

  • Why is he still living here? I’m sure that as a College Professor he has done fairly well over the years. Go live and teach in another country. I’m sure that he can find another place that would allow him to berate the government and law enforcement without consequenses. I mean really if the America is so screwed up leave. Don’t think he would really be missed.

  • Access to guns is not the problem. Jacka$$es with guns is the problem. Why are guns “so easy to get”, I thought Detroit pretty much banned handguns. Oh wait, that is a ban for Law Abiding citizens, not criminals.

  • There is no doubt that this man’s argument against the use of the term hero to describe our fallen soldiers is completely off base. There had never been a more apt use of the description. Even though he apologized does he think that people believe that he changed his mind about our military and those who served? He’s a left wing liberal. I think the opinion that he put out there initially is his honest opinion, once again an opinion that he was free to voice because of those same heros who gave their lives. He could never understand the courage and conviction in the hearts and minds of our men and women who have served or are currently serving in our military. After all, he doesn’t even have the courage or conviction to stand by his opinion.

  • “I stood up and grabbed a wooden chair as one of the assailants approached from the left. I started swinging the chair to protect my family and other elderly patrons in our corner,” the man says in a written statement. “Suddenly, another assailant charged at me from the right. He was violently swinging a metal baton. The terrorist swung two or three times at my head and face. Thank God I was able to block the brunt (of) his attack with the chair.” Absoultely commendable, but 1911 would have worked so much better. I do believe that if this had occured in my home state the assailants would have been very easy to identify. They would have been the wouned ones on the floor.
