I have been following rather closely, and have a question: Ambassador Stevens and the two Seals are written and spoken of extensively – what about the fourth American? Is there a reason why he is seldom mentioned?
He was a lower level civilian employee, and the first to die. His body was located and taken in the armored vehicle which was ambushed , but still managed to reach the "annex" (actually a CIA facility) just over a mile away. The ambassador, who was overcome by the smoke as well but still alive, was left behind because he could not be located and the situation was untenable. A mob of looters who came to the embassy after the attack found him and took him to the hospital where he died. It's still not clear whether this was before or after the two SEALs were killed, because the firefight at the annex lasted seven hours. Like the original 9-11, this one was no tragedy; rather, it was an atrocity, made worse by the cover up which is Wadi-gate.
