  Stunning! This *******, Norm Stamper, was in law enforcement for 34 years and obviously didn’t learn a damned thing of significance as a result of that experience.

  As a law enforcement officer of 30 years (10 years of which were as a chief of police) I learned that the role of the police is to protect the public. That includes protecting their Constitutional rights, not only those with which you personally agree. I learned, from unpleasant first hand experiences of arriving at the scene of mayhem after the act, that when you or a loved one is attacked and you need a police officer he is minutes away, however, a .223 round travels at 3000+ fps. Police are responders, there is very little they do, or can do, to stop crime. Stopping crime is the purview of the citizenry, not the police. Unfortunately for this country the police sold the public a bag of goods back in the ’60′s that they were the experts in crime deterrence and it should be left in their capable hands. It was bad advice then, just as it is now. Your safety and that of your family is first and foremost your responsibility, you cannot delegate it to someone who may or may not respond to your call for help in a timely manner. Finally, it has been demonstrated time and again that the northwest is a bastion of brainless ********. I point to Mr. Stamper as a case in point.

  Hey. Planedoc, your brilliant supposition is completely wrong. In any case, I am a 30 years law enforcement veteran who actually is familiar with the U.S. Constitution. I also understand that violating the rights of the citizens in the name of addressing a purported crime increase is unacceptable, inexcusable and unconstitutional. I’m sure someone in Paragould has heard of the Constitution, and one or two may have actually read it. Try it some time…. educate yourself, you’ll be amazed at how little you know about the rights you believe are so unimportant that you will allow a Barney Fife police chief and a dummy Mayor to violate them at will.

  It appears in Paragould that the morons are running the asylum. The Mayor needs to be re-called as he is apparently too ignorant to serve the public in his elected capacity. The Police Chief is an insult to all professionals who serve as law enforcement executives. Not only should he have innately known that the suggested policy was blatantly unconstitutional, if he didn’t dream up such garbage himself, he should have bristled that anyone would even suggest his officers should behave in such an illegal, unconstitutional manner toward American citizens. It is almost incomprehensible that persons purported to have the welfare of the citizenry as their main objective could be so stupid and incompetent. Remind me to stay out of Arkansas, or at least out of Paragould.
