  • Summerall broadcast NFL games on television for more than 40 years, and probably (with the possible exception of Don Criqui) broadcast more football games on TV than any other broadcaster. He made one of the biggest clutch kicks in Pro Football history in a snowstorm in the final seconds of a week 12 contest against Cleveland on 12/14/58; his 49-yard FG gave the Giants a 13-10 win over the Browns to forge a tie with Cleveland atop the NFL Eastern Conference with identical 9-3 records, setting up a tiebreaker game the following week. The Giants won the tiebreaker game 10-0 and went on to face the Colts in the 1958 NFL Championship, which was the first NFL Championship to go to Sudden Death, which was won by the Colts 23-17; many consider this game the greatest football game ever played. Summerall was an alcoholic for several decades, and among the wild antics he engaged in was once at a hotel bar he lined the bar patrons up in a field goal formation while Summerall kicked the piano player’s toupee thru the piano player’s arms that were outstretched like goalposts. Summerall went to rehab (and found religion) after the 1992 Masters when he started coughing up pieces of his stomach after a late night of drinking. Great broadcaster, great player. RIP.

  • I remember about six or seven years ago I visited NYC and went up to the 86th floor of the Empire State Building, and as soon as I got up there and the floor was moving back and forth in the wind I was already in line to take the elevator down as I immediately started getting motion sickness. I was up there less than five minutes, and never even made it out to the Observation Deck. I cannot imagine what it is like in the tower in Dubai.

  • If it turns out that the person who was responsible for this was a radical Muslim, we’ll be treated to an assortment of editorials and commentary from every liberal talking head that not every Muslim is a potential terrorist, but on the other hand, because some guy with mental problems stole his mother’s guns and shot up an elementary school, every gun owner in America is a potential mass murderer.

  • I wonder which member of the MSM was assigned the task to keep an open tab on their browser that was set to google.com and they already have the words TEA PARTY typed in and are only waiting to put in the name of the person who gets arrested for this, just so they can hit the search button and be the first to link this to the Tea Party.

I’m also waiting for the conspiracy theories to begin, saying that this was done by the Government so they could take our pipe and ball bearings away, because if we can save just one life…

  • I guess he can finally move out of his parents basement now.

  • Douche Hall of Famer Chris Matthews lives up to his title yet again.

  • I watched it live, and they played it on the replay one time from each angle and that was it. It was pretty gruesome. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope he took full advantage of his college scholarship and majored in something he can do for a living when he graduates because his basketball career is likely over.

  • Why does it not surprise me that when Obama goes to church, it’s another one of these “Hate Whitey” churches, be it Rev. Wright or this guy or Father Michael Phleger, who is the Vanilla Ice of the Black Liberation Theology movement.

  • I remember a few years back when Hollyweird made a little movie called The Day After Tomorrow, and they cast an actor who looks a lot like Dick Cheney to be the VP. The entire purpose of the movie, other than making money and providing stock footage for Al Gore to use in his film, was the scene at the end when the Cheney clone, who became the President when the President was killed, got on TV and apologized for the weather catastrophe, that it was entirely the fault of the United States and in particular his administration. I didn’t see this in the theater but I know people who did and I heard from them that people cheered during this scene.

  • The sad part about Hasan is that he is paralyzed from the waist down from being shot during the attack, and if the Army gives him a hanging, his legs won’t kick.
