I liked wrestling better when you had characters like Sgt. Slaughter (who were patriotic) and The Sheik (the bad guy.) Those were the days that being patriotic was cool, not a sin. Back then you rooted for the good guys and hated the bad guys. Today's "wrestling" is full of PC and dumb story lines.
These two "characters" are nothing like any Tea member I know. We tend to be much more reserved. Seems the WWE bought the media swill.
Evidently these guys are idiots. Glenn's point was to show that you are playing a part that shows the tea party as though it was racist. You are fraud dude and should be ashamed of yourself for playing a part of a lie. There is a reason why you are making the character out to be a member of the tea party and at the same time a racist. You are an lowlife who would sale his soul and this country just to make dollar.
I find the WWE's pursuit of advancing and holding up negative stereotypes as extremely poor conduct, as bad as portraying guns, murder or rape. Anyone on the right does that and there is INSTANT vilification, but I guess it is "aw-raht fo you good 'ol boys". See, not nice when I do it either, spell check is offended. And "Colter"? Really? Like Ann Coulter? Are they expecting or insinuating their audience too stupid to know the difference? They are spreading hate in a beyond "PG" manner.
Also, Is anyone else seeing that our federal Government is beginning to look a lot like the WWE? The fiscal cliff (hanger) and the sequester all have good potential for a Congressional "Monday Night Raw" weekly showdown. Laughable, really, but are we that far removed form Rome? Hmmmm?
Back in the 60s there was a professional wrestler that lived on my street. He went by the name of Skandor Ackbar. He was supposed to be a mean Arab/Muslim. However in real life his name was Jimmy Wehba. He was a Palestinian catholic that had come to America to pursue his faith in Christ.
When I was a child I was on my death bed. Back then, they just sent you home to die. I remember Jmmy coming in my room and he was probably 20 years old. I was about 7. He brought a signed picture of hinself and sat and talked to me and prayed for me. I was a fan of Mr. Webha even though he played a bad guy....I knew different... To this day I will say his charitable act to me saved my life. He always had kids around the neighborhood in droves and we loved "Skandor" no matter what because of his kind heart and love to everyone. I got to meet a lot of wrestlers, many were phenomenal men....
Yes these guys are nisportraying the Tea Party.I assure you many of these men are charitable good men in real life. They look at this as a way to feed their family. They really need to just be taught about conviction, That is what many people do NOT understand. These guys are saying "I do this to keep a job".
Glenn, you have to go talk to them and tell them that TRUTH outweighs MONEY and lies. Even if it is an act by an actor it is wrong. I think the reason Jimmy "Skandor" knew it and that is why he was so kind.in real life. I miss him very much to this day. His kindness undid the evil h
I stopped watching the WWE when they brought al the racist Sharpton on as a co-host for one show. Once they started playing the race baiting game I stopped watching.
I urge any of you that may still watch the WWE to stop watching and send them an email as to why.
i know a wrestler (retired from the 60s and 70s) in michigan, even though the wrestling is staged to some degree, he told me you have to be in excellent shape to do what the wrestlers do, maybe glenn can go and get some discipline
I hope Glenn takes them up on the offer and give an honest portrayal of the Tea Party
WWE is part of the whole entertainment industry. They are not just there to entertain, they are also there to indoctrinate. I literally believe that had we never had an MTV, we could never have a President Obama. MTV educated and indoctrinated the masses.
Comdedy showes like John Stewart are no different. It was originally designed for entertainment, but has taken on the role of indoctrinator. For those under the age of 30, many get their "news" from John Stewart. The MSM, Hollywood, MTV.... gets to declare who is cool, and who is not. Face it, if you are with a younger crowd, they would pipe up loud and proud about watching John Stewart, but they would whisper if mentioning Rush or Glen.
WWE is entertainment for low information voters our of the trailer parks. If they can indoctrinate them that the tea party is bad, then they will.
Why do we waste so much time trying to defend ourselves against bogus claims? They are just trying to frustrate you into compliance. These wrestlers act really doesn't bother me.
If standing for the constitution and freedom makes you racist, I'm clearly a racist. And your point is?
I am a big fan of Glenn. I watch his radio program and his television program on satellite. I agree with him about 90% of the time, but he's getting a dose of his own medicine on this one so to speak. One of my main issues with him has been his denegrating southernors in EXACTLY the same way hollywood and east coast elites do. When they want to affect an idiot they use a southern persona and accent. I have heard Glenn Beck himself do this. I am sensitive to it because it drives me crazy. I'm a proud 4th generation Texan and I feel no need to change my Texas accent (twang) to convince people I'm not an idiot. They ARE the idiots, they have fallen for Hollywood and northeastern elitist propaganda to denegrate southernors.. Glenn, I love you man...but you were in New York too long and infected with the elitist snobbery that looks down on southernors...STOP affecting a southern accent when you are making a point about an idiot. How about a New York accent complete with "Youse guys". These wrestler idiots are doing the same thing...they want to invent a redneck, hick, teaparty character complete with southern accent.....I've heard Glenn do the SAME thing on his radio program (minus the teaparty part), but affecting a redneck, hick persona complete with southern accent to get aross a message from any idiot whether they are southern or not---STOP IT!!!
Glenn needs to do what the msm does and ignore these morons. They'll self destruct...
If the WWE was smart and was truly apolitical they would play both sides with equal zeal.
Fine have a few Tea Party Patriot Characters, but also have a couple of Big Goverment Characters led by a manager that looks like Obama. When Big Goverment comes out with a big fanfare have a few plants in the audience. The Big Goverment characters can shake down the plants and take all of their money, then give them a free cellphone.
The audience would howl! The fights between the 2 groups would likely be the most watched, and if promoted right would draw in more people.
But no...like Hollywood, the WWE is out of touch. They will instead make fun of the Tea Party, and consider Obama, his cabinet, and progressive views as sacrosanct.
Let's see how this plays out for them.
Linda McMahon ran as a republican for the senate in Connecticut. She was a fool. She is blaming the "crazy Tea party" for her loss. At one point in her campaign she endorsed Obama, then took it back. And she calls us crazy
SLAPTHELEFT & others
Seize any opportunity to educate, lets not give the Progressives more opportunities to frame the Tea Party. We need to take control of the conversation, better frame our arguments and fully vet the candidates we chose ti represent us. We keep allowing the media to pick our candidates and that must stop.
Here is a real wrestler that would kick both of those bozzos asses....This is before hollywierd controlled the not so real sport!!! That was entertainment...
I don't remember the Tea Party having a problem with Latinos, the Tea Party has a problem with BIG GOVERNMENT, and being TAXED too much, and the wasteful spending BIG GOVERNMENT does with our money! The TEA PARTY HAS A BIG PROBLEM WITH SOCIALISM!
hey baddogy great story man. my stepdad was friends with both jimmy and the great bill watts. i met alot of the guys growing up here in tulsa and your right they are mostly great guys just acting for a living.
All their invitation is, a way to bolster the following of the WWE by using Glenn as a draw. Glenn just let them fail on their own and they surely will. Only idiots would watch this crap for entertainment!
Good Lord, this people need to zip and go way, Glenn is absolute right, and ignore this people that are lost cause. They have no shame to making ridiculous of them self, you guys suck, go way looses.
I've been a fan of wrestling for...well...longer than I care to admit.
Folks...these guys are actors/entertainers first, followed closely by being athletes. They are playing a role given to them by their directors and producers. Some, by virtue of being around long enough and/or their popularity, have more of a say in their roles than others. If John Cena doesn't want to play a particular role, I'm pretty sure he won't be pressed. I doubt that Jack Swagger is in that same rareified atmosphere.
I don't know the politics of the McMahons, though I suspect, having read books by some of their more prominent employees, that they would be the typical sort of Republicans you find in Connecticut- center-left moderates. Those are exactly the sort of Republicans that are most likely to believe the MSM's negative spin towards the Tea Party, because it is more of an Elitist versus the Great Unwashed thing than it is actually about ideology. It is sad because I would be very surprised if their fan base doesn't skew heavily towards the Right and they do risk alienating them. But the McMahons are nothing if not willing to admit mistakes (remember when Bill Gunn of D-X was suddenly supposed to be gay? that didn't last long and the change was due to fan outcry), so, if there is enough blowback, Mr. Swagger will be recast. And soon.
I do wish that Glenn would accept the invitation because I think he would be given a fair hearing.
I encourage everyone to watch the video. You may see the difference between politics and entertainment, something Glenn Beck knows as well as anyone, rodeo clown that he proclaims himself to be. The guy was surprisingly well spoken. This is a loser issue for Beck and I imagine he'll drop it as soon as he can.
Seriously though, what I don't get is why you guys are offended by this. I read here every day people talking about "we the people, don't tread on me, send all the Mexican back to Mexico, build a 2000 mile fence on our southern border and electrify it and shoot anyone who crosses." This guy hasn't said a single thing I haven't read here 500 times, or that southern politicians haven't said. So what's the problem? If you can give me one single thing this guy has said that you haven't or that a politician such as Sarah Palin has said, PLEASE POST IT HERE. And when you do I'll google and prove you wrong.
I'm developing a theory though, and hope some of you Tea Party types will correct me. My theory is that when you hear an actor, knowing he's an actor, repeat back to you the things you say and believe, it seriously jerks your chain. If one of you were to same thing as this wrestler, you would cheer him on, but knowing it's a money making act really bothers you. It's weird but that's the best I can make of it.
What's your explanation?
Blah, blah, blah, blabity, blah, blah blah. Did the WWE bad actors, say something? Their genre is the original "reality (un) tv." Blah, blah...boring. And so beneath stupid.

This is my School and its a shame to represent it especially since our sports team sucks. Those guys a great people.
