Research ACOUSTIC SHADOW. That will explain why the “booms” are not heard locally but over100 mile away.
Even in my own apartment complex (where I live), due to the unusual design, there are places you can hear conversations at the end of the hall around the corner clearly, yet not hear someone speaking at the corners edge.
Yup -- and this is a very interesting and great example of the phenomenon.
Regarding the munition disposal, though: why can't they use that explosive power for some useful purpose? (sort of a non-nuclear "Operation Plowshare")
This is why "blow-[UP]" is called.... cause most explosions blow UPWARDS, then spread out. When the munitions are BURIED, the expulsion has mostly only one exit.... UP!

Six and a half years into this moronathon and the community organizer and his dim-witted minions still don’t understand that Iran hates the US. This nuke deal is like pointing a gun at your head with the ayatollah’s finger on the trigger.
In the words of the great philosopher Bugs Bunny, “What a maroon!”
I also find things more than a little Brave New Worldish.
No one reads anymore. They simply review the Cliff Notes and regurgitate.

I agree LibSoc! Never thought I’d say that. I’ll even give you a thumbs up. Have a great day!

LibSoc is like a loud fart. Abrupt, obnoxious, rude and vile….then slowly fades away.

Ok Zodiac, I’m taking a step back and a deep breath. First off, I like the MrMoonshine handle, LOL. Second, I never said I attempted suicide. I am certainly resourceful enough that if I “attempt”, I will succeed. Third, if you were an in-country combat vet, thank you and God bless you.
Now, my whole point was that depression is REAL and thoughts of suicide in someone with depression are REAl. Even after 25 years of medication, I am still not the bubbly funny guy I was in the previous 25 years. By equating depression/suicidal thoughts with a lack of discipline is just asinine. I am a retired firefighter/EMT. I certainly have not seen the atrocities that you have seen in combat but I have certainly been in harms way and have seen death face to face many times. Again, I am not equating my experiences to yours nor am I claiming PTSD which seems to be epidemic today. I manage my depression well but react harshly when someone like you marginalizes it by comparing it to a lack of discipline. That’s just like telling a fat person to just “lose weight”.
The crux is that what is truth for you regarding your mental and emotional condition, is not necessarily true for hundreds of thousands of others who suffer.
I apologize for using course language and not being more compassionate myself. Peace to you and yours.

Zodiac and Blest, you two pea brains just made my point. You have NO idea what you’re talking about. Comparing what YOU feel to what I feel is completely odious. You know NOTHING of my life, yet you both react as if MY feelings or experiences have no validity.
If anyone is arrogant, it’s YOU! You are both self absorbed know-it-alls and you have NO right to opine about someone else’s thoughts or feelings. I know what I know. I know what I’ve experienced. I know how I’ve reacted. Guess what. I’m still here dipsh*ts. You both remind me of the arrogant L I B T A R D c*cksuckers that spew their stupidity all over this site. So kindly go F yourselves.

Eviloltaire, Put…the…crackpipe…down. You are about as F’ed up as a football bat!

I’ll second that flyboy! All in favor?
 July 28, 2015 at 11:09am
Zodiac, please research “depression” and “suicide”. There is an old saying that goes “If I have to explain it, you wouldn’t understand.”
Thoughts of suicide are always within easy grasp of someone suffering depression. It can be treated with medication but I never goes away completely. It I very real and it is extremely scary. If you’ve never suffered any form of depression, you WON’T be able to remotely understand it. I have. I Will. I do.

Hey Monk, JL1776 states that “bicyclists have NO RIGHT to be on the road.” And “92 percent of accidents are caused by bicyclists who feel they are above he law.”
How can you argue such “facts” presented by a FL DMV employee no less?
He must be in charge of bridges….or at least lives under one.
 July 28, 2015 at 10:42am
To those out there that use hand held devices in your vehicle, please shove said device up your @$$!
The argument shouldn’t be about whether or not bicycles should be allowed to use public roads, it should be about the idiots who are distracted by their toys.
I am currently in the insurance industry and formerly in fire/EMS. Distracted driving kills. Please don’t offer excuses as to why you think it doesn’t matter because that just makes you a distracted moron and there is NO rationalizing that kind of stupidity.
exactly. the people texting, using phones and GPS are deadly. There are enough distractions naturally occuring without adding to them. Unfortunately I think most of us have been guilty of this at one time or another. We all should be aware of this and stop before you use the phone or other toy.
