  • Here is my vent session. The article said something that I agree with
    “The proposed resolution also reinforces that Scouting is a youth program, and any sexual conduct, whether heterosexual or homosexual, by youth of Scouting age is contrary to the virtues of Scouting,”
    I guess my problem is who is defining children as gay an not gay. In years past a “gay” scout was no big deal if he lived by the above morals because no one, not even he defined himself as gay. What has happened is that we are forcing our kids to define themselves too early sexually. This forces them to feel awkward and different if they do have those tendencies and they express desire to be accepted for who they are. When you sign up for scouts there is no “gay” or “straight” check box as there shouldn’t be because if you are living within the bounds of abstinence this should not even be in your vocabulary. Thus, the homosexual community has pushed an non-issue into being an issue.
    The downturn on this will be that the new boy scout manual will teach this as “normal” and “acceptable” behavior. This was the true agenda of the homosexual community, to force others to accept their lifestyle. They will sexualize a million children if they have to, to gain acceptance for their own lifestyle.
    My plea is to not sexualize children as we are doing now. Enough with pushing this issue on them, and making them check a box of gay or straight. Let them be kids. Turn off the smut.

  • I was thinking the same thing, that’s why I watched the video. Apparently in this vehicle your key will not turn off the car if you are in gear, or this car malfunctioned and this was a result. Either way he was not able to turn off the ignition. I would think that romping on the brakes hard enough would kill the engine though. It would mash with the engine and the transmission but it may work.

  • What ticks me off is no one is doing their math on solar. To create silicon solar cells you need to do two huge heating processes. One process is the purification of silicon out to 99.999% pure. The second is turning that into ingot form. Both processes use so much electricity that a solar cell will likely never pay itself off in just the electricity used. In other words for solar cells to be our primary source of power the majority (75%-90%) or more would have to be dedicated directly to replacing themselves. When you factor in inefficiency in storing and converting electrical power you get even worse numbers to the point that at best what the solar cells are doing is storing and releasing energy, and not producing anything. Solar cells aren’t forever and will eventually wear out due to sun damage funny enough. Not to mention that solar cells will take 15-20 years to pay off their electricity (then they die). Solar cell prices will never come down because they have never been a truly renewable resource. If at some point there is a better way of manufacturing them with less power, they may become a vital source of power. Right now this does not exist, but research, not production of old technology will lead to the breakthrough.

  • I made a cogent argument that you agree is true. Your morals are different than my morals and therefore I am “daft.” That is very tolerant of you.
    I will try to support my theory that it is a bad thing. In the past sexual promiscuity has been followed by collapse of society. We have prolonged the destruction because we have been able to keep people from getting pregnant and have supported single mothers and broken homes. We have just come up with clever ways of pushing off the consequences of such immorality until later. Soon it will collapse on us just as it has in the past. The only difference this time is it will be a bigger crash because we have held it off for longer. I am amazed that there are people out there that think that sexual immorality is a good thing.

  • Thank you for your comment. People have been trying to cast homosexuals as pedophiles, but even though I oppose the scouts allowing homosexuals I think this is an unfair cast of homosexuals. The problem lies as you have stated so wonderfully, where the young scouts share a tent. According to the BSA the leaders are not to share a tent with anyone who is not their son. But the young men are allowed to share a tent. A homosexual leader may just see something as a harmless coming of age for the boys as well. I fear the scouting program will give in though. I don’t know what I will do with my Eagle award at that point.

  • This is what I want all in favor of making homosexuality the norm answer. What has changed in the past 20-30 years? Why now is this a turning point? What is special about this moment? What was the watershed that started this all? They will say public opinion. Fine, but what has changed public opinion? I hold that it all started when we as a society decided that sex outside of wedlock was just as good as sex within wedlock. At that point in time we lost a sense of commitment around sexual relations. We also developed an idea that sex was not for bringing life, but for bringing pleasure alone. Thus it was easy to equate any kind of sexual relations because sex outside of wedlock and for the sole purpose of pleasure is the norm. Now in guilt a good portion of America is folding on their moral convictions because they folded on their personal moral convictions decades earlier. Now it is hard to say why homosexuality is not normal because we sacrificed our morals for a moment of pleasure. Thus we see that the roots of the homosexual revolution (what else do we call it) is based in immorality. This is why I do not support sex out of wedlock nor do I support homosexual “rights.”

  • Sorry, got interrupted. When I was in scouting I always thought I understood what “morally straight” meant and I’m not just talking about homosexuality but any kind of pre-marital garbage that we are now accepting. Morally straight could also refer not to sexual morals (but I’m pretty sure that was in the intent) but being moral in our dealings with our fellow men. Whatever the case, if they change they will have to make the oath more clear as to what they want it to mean. And so we see a great organization on the edge of falling into the crapper.

  • Some may wonder what the big deal is if the scouts allow local groups to make their own decision concerning accepting homosexual members and leaders. I can tell you that my religiously based local troop will not. So what is the problem? The problem is that we fund raise for BSA and that money will then go to support something we do not. In addition it means we would no longer participate in multi-troop functions with troops outside our church groups. The funding for BSA will dry up and the large activities will go away. Soon the fracture will be so bad that BSA will no longer exist.
    I also want to know how BSA is going to change the Scout Oath
    On my honor I will do my best
    To do my duty to God and my country
    and to obey the Scout Law;
    To help other people at all times;
    To keep myself physically strong,
    mentally awake, and morally straight.

    I guess a more progressive definition of morally straight could be made. When I went through scouting I always understood “morally straight”

  • While we are at addressing overdue issues let’s ask the question why the Father wasn’t in the picture. With limited knowledge of the case and this hearsay it is hard to make this judgement call, however from people I have grown up with I can say that having a father in the home makes a huge difference when children are mentally stable. When they are mentally unstable and don’t have a complete family life to fall back on I suspect excrement may hit the fan. I read a journal article citing two different kinds of mass shooters. One kind is a psychopath. The other is the traumatized child coming from some form of broken home. Blame the guns if you want, but the selfish parents may need to take some of the blame too.

  • I think I’m still being the wet blanket on this, but think of the statistical data that we could get from this. We could determine optimal lunch times, we could have more flexible schedules for the students. We wouldn’t need hall passes any more. There wouldn’t be any more disputes about what your child got in trouble for at school. The problem here is that we have a large concentration of irresponsible kids (nothing wrong with that, in general kids are irresponsible). We have technology now keep schools better under control. Sorry to say, but there is very little actual privacy at a public school.
