  • CARL1000 I hear you! Socrates said “If all our misfortunes were laid in one common heap whence everyone must take an equal portion, most people would be content to take their own and depart.” It’s just another way of saying to be thankful for what you do have, a lot of people out there are far worse off! I posted this video about Nick Vujicic on my FB the other day; here’s a guy who is a true inspiration to the rest of us!

  • THX1138V2 Your argument doesn’t hold water. The tenets of Christianity are mandates by God for everyone, not suggestions for those who would be happy following them. Those who do not follow Christ and hold to biblical truth are in fact denying the bible and God himself! If pursuing one’s own happiness is a “moral obligation” what happens when my pursuit and your pursuit are in conflict? Who wins? We are back to “might makes right!”

  • GODLOVINMOM, I think you, and most people who have commented here, probably are not familiar with Dr. Mohler and have misunderstood his words. Dr. Mohler is very conservative and one of the most outspoken defenders of the Gospel! He in no way is “tolerating” sin. He is saying that Christians have served as a poor witnesses of Christianity, especially in our marriages and that we must approach the homosexual issue from a gospel perspective. He said, “We are guilty of our own form of ridiculing rather than acting with redemption” which is spot on! Yes, Jesus and the bible command Christians to preach the gospel, and preaching the gospel includes telling people that they are sinners in need of a Savior; and homosexuality is included in the list of sins, no doubt! But, There is a huge difference between telling someone they are a sinner and going to hell if they don’t repent and telling them the same thing, but with a heart of compassion that is seeking to save lost souls. Unfortunately, many in the Christian Church are very good at the former and sorely lacking in the latter! In short, Dr. Mohler is rebuking Christians for our failure in the area of being credible witnesses and evangelists for the gospel of Jesus Christ!

  • TexasIndependent your comments remind me of the funny line Archie Bunker gave to Sally Struthers (who played the liberal gun control advocate) when she quoted how many people are killed by handguns:
“Would it make you feel any better little girl if they was pushed out a windows?” LOL

The fact is I am armed at all times while outside of my home and I KNOW that just about ANYTHING can be a weapon. The FBI releases photos of things people have converted to guns including, cell phone guns, knife guns, lipstick case gun, pen gun and many more. ALL are operating pistols that shoot real bullets. Also, just a few weeks ago a police officer was murdered by a man he arrested when he went to take off the handcuffs at the jail. The suspect was hiding a blade and when the officer released his wrists the suspect stabbed him in the neck.

You can never be too careful!

  • It would be one thing if all that the Gay community wanted was to be left alone have a “live and let live” attitude! But they do not! They want more than to be accepted, they want to enculcate our children and make Christian values obsolete! They have come ‘out of the closet’ and now want to push Christians ‘into the closet.’ They use sophistry, lies, propaganda, mariginalizing of people who hold to conservative views and every other form of deceipt to propagate their ideals.

YES, there is a concerted effort by the gay activist community to indoctrinate and normalize homosexuality. The sad thing is, it’s working! Notice how over at least the last 10 years in almost every movie or TV show there is at least one gay character. Notice how lately, the new talking point is to refer to conservatives/Christians as “in the dark ages,” or something to that effect.

Nobody wants to be the “hater” or the one in the crowd to speak the truth and say “The Emperor is not wearing any clothes!” So, unless Christians speak the truth, nobody will!

  • But since you rejected me when I called and no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand,
since you ignored all my advice and would not accept my rebuke,
I in turn will laugh at your disaster; I will mock when calamity overtakes you–
when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you.
“Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me…….but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.” PROVERBS 1

  • Folks, If you are a Christian, instead of arguing with Atheists, try this: Ask the ones around you (coworkers, friends, family, etc..) politely, for some background on why they are so adamantly opposed to God! Nine times out of ten the individual was hurt by the Church, Christians or people who called themselves Christians. Don’t be one of those mean, angry “Christians” who simply affirm their belief that ALL Christians are phony, religious, unloving, self righteous, hypocrites! YOU be the one who actually displays the love of God! It’s was The Lord would have you do:

And the Lord’s servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be KIND TO EVERYONE, able to teach, NOT RESENTFUL. Those who oppose him he must GENTLY instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will. 2 Timothy 2:24-26

    BE THE DIFFERENCE!

  • SOVEREIGNSOUL, God is not “indifferent” to suffering and/or evil. He actually uses suffering for several reasons. When we suffer, God uses our suffering to cleanse the soul from evil. When we see others suffering, God is giving us an opportunity to learn love and compassion and yet “He works all things in conformity with his will.” (Ephesians 1:11) Also, your statements assumes that there are “innocent” people suffering when the bible says “all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.” We all stand guilty and condemned before a holy God and yet, he sent Jesus to pay the price for OUR sins so that we can receive mercy by placing our faith in Jesus! Be careful what you ask for, if God were to stomp out evil this moment you, I and everybody would be dust! Repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved!

  • LOCKED, as a Bible believing, Creationist, Conservative Christian, I say, you are absolutely correct. God even ordered the slaughter of men, women and children (see Joshua 6:17-21 and Ezekiel 9:5 for instance). Don’t forget though God is sovereign over his creation and no creature has the “right” to anything from God, including life! Unfortunately, American Christianity has turned the Biblical God into a tame, doting old toothless Grandfather figure who is just “nice.” Yet the bible says:

“See now that I myself am He! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand.” Deut 32:29

It is God’s prerogative to bring life and to take it, we are guilty sinners before him, he owes nobody mercy! This truth is even rejected by “Christians.”
