The author’s logic boggles my mind. Just because 6 out of 17 of the powers in that section of the Constitution deal with defense, that somehow means that the founding fathers intended us to funnel billions of dollars to crony defense contractors to buy equipment and technology that is far in excess of what we actually need for our defense? News flash: we’ve drawn down the majority of our forces from Iraq and are drawing down in Afghanistan. We don’t need to spend as much as we do on defense. We can spend less and still be just as safe.
You said “America must reject the premise that our Constitution is outdated, cliché and therefore invalid…” Nobody is advocating this straw man argument!
