  • Is Facebook Targeting Links From TheBlaze as Spam?

    April 25, 2013 at 4:18pm

    In reply to vermima.

    Vermima,
I would like to believe that it was just a case of posting too much or too fast, however, I seldom post on FB. Yesterday I attempted to paste a link to the Saudi story in reply to a friend’s post and was blocked. Your hypothesis unfortunately does not fit my experience. I would be interested to hear if you still are experiencing a problem. – Regards

  • It seems sad that the only group we can make fun of now are the mentally ill. It is clearly obvious that this woman’s thoughts and behaviors are not healthy, but neither are the actions of those who make fun of her. Shame on you all.

  • Dear Pete….
Really? You might be interested to know that the Register has not supported a Republican since 1972 and as Joe Biden is fond of saying “this is a big ******* deal”! I am so proud of you for keeping the secret about the big surprise on Friday…lol

  • As an Iowegian, I must first confess my shock, and then my pleasure at the Register endorsement. If you want to see an interesting slugfest, go to the paper and check out the comments. It is almost midnight on a Saturday…which means that all good Iowa folk are usually in bed by now, but comments are flying. I was hoping that the next time Mr. Biden came to visit, he could suggest that the editors have balls the size of cue balls, but that might get him in trouble with his boss….

  • I have to say that I am stunned by the insensitivity of some of the posts on this site. You know absolutely nothing about the parents, or how they raised their son, yet you dare to judge. As someone who is a parent to three wonderful children that were given equal opportunity and experience, were loved beyond comprehension, and supported by a loving set of parents, I take umbrage with your comments that somehow these parents missed an opportunity and are therefore at fault. Our oldest son has been diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder. I can assure you that his mother and I are not at fault in his upbringing. We have another son and daughter, both married, graduated from college, and successful. Mental illness is not the fault of the parent, or the affected person.

I am not excusing the behavior of the young Mr. Holmes, but to insinuate that the parents had something to do with it is beyond the pale. Walk a mile in thier shoes and you may sing a different tune. At 24 years old, they had absolutely no control over their son. The system does not support families of children with mental illness. They were and are powerless.

The more important question should be,…how can we recognize the early signs of mental illness. Doing so would not only prevent tragedies such as this, but would prevent the smaller, but equally painful, incidents that parents of mentally ill children deal with every day.

I certainly hope your smug answer at least made you feel better.

  • I & my wife knew from the beginning to only make rules that we could enforce, & we intended to enforce otherwise like any human being; your children will test the water to see what they can get away with-also you must lead by example, which is the most powerful tool. Outside of that the sanctions are up to the family, but you can’t follow your children around 24/7 & whatever they do is by their choice & a collection of experience.

  • Here is a version made of the performance filmed with a camera of a television, so you can get an idea of what she did. It is like watching a bad Chinese ripoff of a movie, which I have no idea what that would look like personally I have only heard about it.

It is crappy, but so was the performance.

  • Different handguns operate differently when you load and chamber a round and then place the safety on. If you have never handled a Makarov 9×18 and I gave you a magazine with 8 shells and told you to chamber a round and put it on safe-out of ten people I could find one person who would shoot off a round while they were doing this process; hopefully not at themselves or someone else.

  • Keep in mind you are also analyzing the light being reflected or produced from that distance 22+ years ago(depends on how far away the object is); we are never analyzing anything from that distance or greater in real time. Light doesn’t travel faster to just get analyzed-as far as we know that planet or planets even further away could be gone by the time we see the image (light) of its demise.
