Is King Bloomberg eligible for his own prize??
“New York City’s billionaire mayor is using his personal fortune to try to spark innovation in the nation’s cities – inviting 1,300 mayors to compete for millions of dollars in funding for new programs meant to solve urban challenges and enhance city life.”

Aw Come on – Not all New Yorkers are stupid!! Why do people think the idiots in NYC represent the entire State of NY? There is alot of territory North of Albany and we’d like to sever ourselves from Albany South, leaving the progressives to themselves. Upstate is so screwed by Albany and NYC. It sucks and if I could, I’d be out of this state right now.

The truth about Fracking and its environmentalist enemies

@DRPHIL69:
May 2011 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. It was a peer-reviewed study done by four professors at Duke University.
The study by the four professors found “that the type of gas detected at high levels in the water was the same type of gas that energy companies were extracting from thousands of feet underground, strongly implying that the gas may be seeping underground through natural or man made faults and fractures, or coming from cracks in the well structure itself.”
“Our results show evidence for methane contamination of shallow drinking water systems in at least three areas of the region and suggest important environmental risks accompanying shale gas exploration worldwide,” the article states.
The Duke group tested 68 drinking water wells in the Marcellus and Utica shale drilling areas in northeastern Pennsylvania and southern New York State. Sixty of those wells were tested for dissolved gas. While most of the wells had some methane, the water samples taken closest to the gas wells had on average 17 times the levels detected in wells further from active drilling. The group defined an active drilling area as within one kilometer, or about six tenths of a mile, from a gas well.
The average concentration of the methane detected in the water wells near drilling sites fell squarely within a range that the U.S. Department of Interior says is dangerous and requires urgent “hazard mitigation” action, according to the

I am NOT A LIBERAL – Now that that’s out of the way:
We are in Schoharie County, NY. If you hadn’t heard, which most have not and could care less about, Hurricane Irene devestaed our towns – Middleburgh, NY & Schoharie, NY. Homes in 12 – 22 feet of standing water, houses taken off their foundations and swept down into the Mohawk River, one man even lost 22 horses to the raging waters of the Gilboa Damn overspill. We lost our town Jail to the tune of $900,000 of income from other counties who housed their overflow inmates there, our county offices under 12 ft of water, our churches, our businesses. We still aren’t sure if our community will even survive at this point. I want to know why exceptions have been made for NYC and the ‘Cuse, but not for the small towns who rely on agriculture and farming to survive. The last thing we need right now is the gasman waving $$ in front of suffering susceptible people.
