  • Nothing wrong with this, so long as they also hang pictures of Mohammed, Odin, Zeus, Krishna, Buddha, etc.

  • An atheist is simply someone who does not have a belief that any of the religions have any proof to their claims of validity. In other words, that is a position of not having any position. Now, for one to say there is a god, or gods, they are then the ones with the burden of proof. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence to support the claim.

  • Should Americans Learn From Israeli Gun Laws?

You people are idiots and only read what you want. My reference to 18th century arms was a rebuttal to someone else who made reference to 18th century regulations. The fact remains we have, by far, the highest amount of gun related deaths of all industrialized nations. It seems to me, it’s more important for right-wingers to keep guns than it is to save innocent lives. I own multiple firearms, and I’d be more than happy to pass a written exam, show competency, and license them…as I do with my cars.

@shakedowncrews and it could just as easily be argued that the 18th century definition of “arms” didn’t mean semi-automatic or automatic weapons, nor did mean high capacity magazines.

How are gun laws unconstitutional? In the 2nd amendment it clearly states “well regulated.” We have THE loosest gun regulation in the world and you’re trying to make the case that gun laws are unconstitutional? The problem here is that, for some reason, people think that the evil left are going to take away your guns. This article doesn’t say anything about taking away your guns, but simply that we need to have a more common sense approach to guns and who gets them. What is wrong with that exactly. And please, save me your slippery slope arguments here. The 20 dead children would likely want something more substantial.

  • Marriage is a civil contract. People can be married in the courthouse and have nothing to do with religion, does that mean that marriage is recognized less because it wasn’t done religiously?

  • You have to realize that not everyone believes in your religion. This country is not a Christian nation. Therefore laws based on the bible should not be made. If you’d like a country based in religion, you should try Iraq, I hear it’s nice this time of year.

  • Why is this so surprising? If you want an education about Jesus or his teachings, go to church, or maybe a religious school.

  • A recent study found the top ten places to be born today all have heavily socialistic governments. All had socialized health care and some even had government run higher education. In addition, these weren’t countries in economic turmoil like most of the EU or here in the USA.

“The EIU, a sister company to The Economist magazine, determines quality of life based on surveys of the population covering 11 factors including wealth, crime, family life, trust in government and the stability of the economy.

Income estimates for babies born in 2013 are based on projections for the year 2030, when those children will come of age.

The top ten best places to be born in 2013:
    1. Switzerland
    2. Australia
    3. Norway
    4. Sweden
    5. Denmark
    6. Singapore
    7. New Zealand
    8. Netherlands
    9. Canada
    10. Hong Kong ”

Socialism is not evil. Many of you reading this enjoy the fruits of socialism. Military, police, fire departments, education, and so on are elements of socialism. Providing a service, paid for by all, for the benefit of all.

  • Matheson is a conservative democrat. He won despite the best efforts of the republitards in this state to break the Democratic vote into four districts. I’m glad my vote in Utah counted for something.
